Pours a nearly black body with reddish brown hues and a huge, dense and foamy tan head that shows at least some proof of its sticky existence for the duration of the beer.
Earthy and piney hops jump from the glass, followed by chocolate malt and maybe even hints of espresso.
The palate features biting earthy hops, but also roasted and chocolate malt. Quite a unique, yet tasty blend of characteristics.
Drying mouthfeel from the dense hops with generous carbonation and a medium body.
This is quite a good example of the Black IPA and really shows the difference between this style and an intensely hopped RIS.
