Served on tap at Rattle N Hum in New York, NY
A: Pours a clear brown with hints of amber in color. The head on this beer is slightly smaller than average and reduces to practically nothing almost immediately. Head is a very light beige in color. No lacing is observed.
S: The aroma of this beer is very faint overall but I get some hints of roasted malts, coffee, and hints of chocolate.
T: This beer has a decent amount of bitterness to it with hints of coffee, some earthy flavors, and subtle hints of dark chocolate.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Very smooth and slightly dry in the finish.
O: Pretty good for a brown ale but not as good as some of the other offerings from this brewery. I like the added hoppiness to the traditional brown ale flavor palette. I could and would drink a couple of these in a session.

Clown Shoes Brown Angel has a thick, soapy, cream-colored head, a hazy, standard brown appearance, and splotchy lacing left behind. The aroma is of cream, deep-roasted barley malt, brown bread crust, and a slight maraschino cherry note. Taste is of all those things, with a notable alcohol pick-up and even stronger deep red cherry. Tea tannin shows itself, and a straight-forward bitterness is detected. Mouthfeel is heavy medium and somewhat slick, and Clown Shoes Brown Angel finishes wet, rich, a little boozy, interesting, and delicious. Overall, this is a must-buy beer!

A very good beer that gives an interesting combination of malts and hops.
aroma: dark roasted malt dominates initially but then opens/warms up to reveal a more fruity-cocoa-yeast character with some creamy-vanilla-chocolate aromas coming through
taste: initially some dark roasted malt with light citrus and some porter like qualities. Has quite a strong hop presence with a distinct bitterness on back of palate and in aftertaste.
Aroma and taste improves as it opens/warms up to reveal a good combination of fruit (citrus - grapefruit predominately) and dark roast with some orange peel and slight chocolate and earthy notes.
Strong flavours that open up nicely - An enjoyable beer to have now and then.
