Notes/Commercial Description:
Muffin Top combines the attributes of a Belgian Tripel with a huge burst of American hops. Intense flavors from the Belgian yeast, reminiscent of candied fruits, mix with the hop bitterness and sweet orange peel to create a unique take on a Belgian-Style ale.

A- Poured into a tulip. Pours an orangish anger color with an off-white head.

S- The aroma is fruity malts, spices, orange peel and citrusy hops.

T- The taste like he aroma has a lot of citrusy flavors with some malt in the background. The finish is grapefruit, some alcohol and citrusy hops creating a nice amount of bitterness.

M- The mouthfeel is between light and medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation.

O- Overall, I love the label. The beer is pretty solid as well, definitely worth a try!

Very "stick to your tongue" hoppiness, true to the triple IPA, and the "Belgian" in it brings on a yeasty, bready sweetness. Nice copper color, and clingy lacing. If you pause a while, there is a spiciness that lingers in the nose. Very good for a hop-head like myself. I am sure my wife would hate it!

Poured a clearish dark gold hue with one finger offwhite head that left lace on top of a strong aroma of yeast and cnadi sugar, touches of caramel malt and bitter citric hops. Strong citric (tea and grassy as well I guess) hop presence, along w/ yeast give it that typical Belgian smooth/orange citric zest (minus the peppery clove spices). Medium-bodied, filling, goes down easy, balances with sweet malts although other than a sugary caramel swirl I can't really pick it out. Finishes balanced and crisp with a touch of sweetness and the ABV is kept at bay. Not the most complex or greatest Belgian IPA but I really enjoyed this.

22oz bottle poured into a Pint Glass

Appearance - Pours a clear copper-orange with a creamy ivory head that settles to a solid cap, leaving behind lots of soapy lacing.
Smell - Big hop aromas of grapefruit and pine resin with a good amount of fruity banana and spicy clove from the Belgian yeast.
Taste - Similar to the nose, big, resinous hops mingle with fruity banana-and-clove Belgian yeast. Finish is pleasantly spicy, with a nice white pepper/coriander character.
Mouthfeel - Slick and creamy, with a medium body and good carbonation.
Overall - A really nice Belgian IPA, a style I'm usually not too fond of!

Poured into a large wine glass, it pours a light yellow ochre color developing a one inch head that dissipates quickly; very little lacing is left. First sip, the hops bittes my palate, I can taste traces of citrus, tamarind; hops are dominant in the aftertaste. I like this, packing a 10% ABV I think I am going to have another cup...and keep drinking BEER and SUPPORT your local brewery. HOG

A:pours murky orange with a finger of off-white head that fades into a thin ring with little lacing.

S: lots of caramel and orange aromas on the nose. There are some vanilla and tropical citrus aromas as well.

T: similar to the aroma, caramel malt and orange flavors dominate. There are piny hop notes toward the finish with a slight bitterness.

M: medium body with lowish carbonation, this beer is a little on the thickly sweet side for me.

O: a decent beer overall. I'd like a bit more hop presence and more carbonation.

22oz bomber poured into a tulip
Bottled 9/23/11

A: Pours a translucent amber with a big 3 fingers width of dense sea foam white colored head, that takes a while to dissipate down to a thin film and leaves some spotty lacing.

S: Citrusy hops, lots of orange/tangerine, mango, peach, and some lemon zest.  A bit of malt sweetness, and a touch of piney hop bitterness.  The booze aroma makes itself known towards the end of the drink. A big whiff brings out some peppery spice, otherwise I am not getting much of the Belgium aromas.  But it does smell like a really, really great IPA.

T: Taste is completely different than the nose.  Initially it's lots of spice and piney bitterness.  There is a pretty significant burnt flavor as well, almost like burnt toast.  Lots on piney bitterness on the back end that lingers after each sip. A first, not much of the citrus hop characters that were present in the nose come out in the taste, just some grapefruit and maybe a touch of orange.  As it warms some other flavors start to come out, the citrus hops become more prevalent.  Im getting lemon, some mango, and I'm even catching a bit of  cinnamon.  The booze makes itself known towards the end of the drink, but not to a fault.  This brew is almost like two different drinks.  Initially it's an alright drink, dominated by piney bitterness with a significant degree of harshness.  The second glass of the bomber is like a completely different beer.  More flavorful, less harsh, many more flavors, greater complexity. Overall palate profile is nothing spectacular but it finishes very strong, which I appreciate.

M/D: Medium bodied, with moderately high carbonation, relatively smooth but not impressively so.  Does a great job of keeping the ABV in check, and is deceivingly easy to drink.

O: Overall, a good beer.  Starts off mediocre at best but finishes very strong.  Worth a try, and I would have again, but I'm not going to run out and buy the supply.

A-Pour is a hazy golden amber with a thin pool of white head that has great retention.

S-Bready malt with lots of fruitiness. Lemony with apricots and some peach. Belgian candi sugar sweetness and Belgian yeast as well.

T-Nice combination of fruit and bitterness. Stone fruit, honey, Belgian yeast, citric hops. Really nice blend of flavors and just a bit hot.

M-A little heavy, a little boozy.

O-I love the name of the beer, and the execution is very nice too.

First had: on tap at TJ's, Paoli, PA

Served in a snifter, a hazy orange-amber color with a small cap of foamy white head. Didn't get much in the aroma, but it was still nice, with scents of bready yeast, and citrusy hops. Taste was good: notes of bready yeast detected in the nose, citrus zest and fresh fruit, honey and malty sweetness. Crisp, sharp, dry finish. Higher alcohol was no more noticeable than most other IPAs I've had. Medium body, and fairly enjoyable.

A ~ The orange side of amber with carbonation typical of clown shoes with some really impressive lacing for a belgian IPA.

S ~ Tropical Fruits, Citrus, & Lemonheads candy.
Lychee-fruit makes an appearance. Finish is Green, Citric & Sweet. Really nice.

T ~ Strong Rock Candi Sugar melded with very fresh floral notes (almost perfume like) & grapefruit. This sharply changes to Orange Zest, MEDICINE, & Lime Peel in the middle.
Finish is Pineapple soaked in Vodka. Strong flavors without cohesion with all the heat. Things become more bearable with time but there is no focus here.

M ~ Strong heat. Tons of good flavors abound but are barely held together. Sweetness doesn't cloy but that heat makes me feel like I am drinking an effing cocktail.

D ~ A lot of heat. Crazy amount of flavors going on. Way too Green to be having all that Candi Sugar hitting you in the face. This is the frame of what could be a great beer. That nose is one of the best I have ever experienced in a Belgian IPA.
Thanks for the chance Berto!
