Just cracked this open out of the bottle. Nice smoke, no aroma from the bottle really and it is being served pretty warm.
Pours nice and thick, aroma is huge now - I smell a ton of espresso, no real chocolate to speak of , but a very nice bite of bitter hops and espresso. Looks great!
Diving right in for a smell, its just all coffee - huge espresso, with just a slight hint of milk chocolate at the end. No real alcohol noted here, very well blended. Getting some smoky roasted flavors, could almost pass as a bacon smell. Very enjoyable.
Ok, let's take a swig of this monster - WOW, that's a huge hit of straight alcohol. It says right on the label, made for aging.. No joke! All I tasted was alcohol, and then a roasted smokey flavor. Mouthfeel is smooth as silk though - full bodied, and now the alcohol is burning in the chest. Woooo! I feel warm. Sticky mouth feel around the lips with some sweetness, but this is mainly all alcohol & roasted notes. The espresso aromas don't really follow the taste - just taste like alcohol smoke. Pretty intense, but not offputting. I can handle it - back of the mouth is now like an 80% dark chocolate bitter feel, it's a pretty interesting stout - but alcohol is the main player in this.
Let me sip a little ...

Alright , a little more chocolate taste - but still a bit of alcohol burn. It's still a great beer with everything you want, bitter dark chocolate, smooth full mouth feel, ton of roasted notes, and alcohol all blended pretty well together. I am enjoying it, about 1/3 done of the bottle - definite sipper. But I say try it out, and then get one to age, cuz it needs to chill out.. Seriously, like one of those girls at a party that can't shuttup, that's how it needs to just sit and chill for a little.

Bottled on 2/22/13. Says its designed to improve with age.
Appearance: Black body with a thin cap of light brown suds. Not quite as dark as some other stouts but definitely looks the part.
Aroma: Rich dark malt and stone fruit. Dried figs. I've got a bit of a head cold so this thing is very quite aromatic for being about a year and a half since it was bottled.
Taste: Starts with nearly sweet dark malt flavor that transitions to a sweet cream flavor. The hops don't add much to the flavor, likely having faded from sitting on the shelf for so long. However, the bitter tones from the dark malt help balance the creamy sweetness. Finish is bitter coffee grinds. Really not tasting much of the 12.5% ABV apart from a burn on the palate in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Very smooth with moderate carbonation. Full in body.
Final Thoughts: This one basically met my expectations. Would have liked to taste a little vanilla or perhaps an oaken-aged version just to spruce it up a bit. The flavor is consistent with many other well known stouts of the style. Definitely a well done beer but nothing special. Would I drink it again? Maybe if it was on nitro-tap.
