10 oz pour on-tap into a stemmed pokal.

Appearance
Pitch black with a short tan head that dissipates quickly. No light penetration.

Nose
Roasted barley, dark fruits, chocolate, and coffee.

Taste
Dark fruits take the forefront with raisin, fig, and date. Chocolate syrup, roasted barley, caramel, and dark roast coffee grounds. Touches of roasty earthiness.

Mouthfeel
Medium bodied, smooth, silky, sweet, and warming.

Overall
11%? REALLY?? Excessively smooth. Traditional Imperial Stout flavors with the dark fruits taking the foreground.

Bottle dated 1/2014:
Pours black and yields a fairly thin amount if head on a lighter pour. The head is foamy and dark tan, and remains on the surface for a while. A few sips shows decent lacing. Nose is dark, dark roasted malt, actually a little more chocolatey in nature, although I get a bit of smokiness in the mix. It's a nice deep smell, even if slightly one-sided.

The taste more or less follows the nose. It starts a bit bitter when there's still a chill in the beer. The front taste with this bitterness is a bit more mocha (coffee) than chocolate. The mid taste brings a light heat to the party from somewhere, perhaps enhanced or caused by some carbonation. As the beer warms, the front taste lightens a bit, and the taste has a bit more chocolate. The end taste seems to tend towards dark roast, slightly astringent coffee, regardless of the temp. The body is pretty full, the feel slightly slick.

This tends a bit towards a coffee flavor than sweet or chocolate, and is pretty well done. The flavors are like a bold dark roast, with some light hints of cream and sweetener, and a light bite of alcohol, both accentuating the main taste well.
