Poured from the bottle into a snifter glass. Bottled November 30th 2012.

A real nice even poured head. Creamy and razor thin bubbles all around, with a light tan and mocha color. Body color is classic walnut black, and hardly anything to see through. A real impressive looking stout.

Nose has real nice variety of classic stout qualities. Ripping toasty grain, wonderful roast notes of dark bitter chocolate, and a nice raspberry like fruit quality to match. All nicely balanced and very enjoyable.

Silky palate on first sip, with the flavors from the nose all coming forward. Silky dark chocolate with a moderate sweetness. Roast character and mild warmth to match come later with surprisingly no smokey qualities that I can discern. Still very light with the silky feel, and the finish is very fruit red berry in taste, hinting at cherries and raspberries.

All the flavors blend really nicely, in a rich stout that has some easy drinking lightness without any boozy character either. This is very well made and put together, very impressive.

Re-reviewing this as a tribute to Vampire Slayer since now apparently legal America is ruining everything. Poured from a 22 oz bomber to a stout/porter glass.

Appearance - 4.5 - Usual dark as night appearance of an imperial stout. Light tan one finger head of thick bubbles. Lacing the glass nicely, big lumpy clumps. The bottle is cool: purple label with a picture of a guy spearing a vampire. Awesome, way better than Vampire Pale Ale (the guys that sued Clown Shoes over this).

Smell - 4.25 - Coffee, espresso, little bit of chocolate, roasted malts, burnt marshmallow, dark fruits. Little bit of a campfire type smell.

Taste - 4.25 - Coffee, espresso, burnt flavors, roasted malt, dark fruits, marshmallow. Caramel. Tastes pretty damn awesome.

Mouthfeel - 4.25 - Medium-Heavy body. Can definitely taste some of the alc (understandable @ 10% ABV). A little bit of a nice creaminess, but less like oil than other imperial stouts. Aftertaste is roasty chocolate coffee.

Overall - 4.25 - It's a good beer to enjoy slowly. Doesn't taste like any other imperial stout, which I like about it. I like the bottle. It's a shame that some asshole had to ruin this awesome beer's name by suing over something stupid. Check out the article, some dumbass actually though this could be confused with Vampire Pale Ale - a belgian pale ale. F*** that, this is an awesome beer, and I love it's name just the way it is.

Bottle purchased from Total Wine and split with fellow BA, QCBrewer. No freshness date listed.

A- Vampire Slayer pours jet black, with creamy tan bubbles slowly rising to the top of the glass. Beer appears to be quite murky and mysterious.

S- Huge roasted malts, touch of vanilla, smoke, espresso and semi sweet chocolate bitterness.

T- Roasted malts, light smoke, vanilla, chocolate, holy water, and mild alcohol burn. Let this beer warm up to room temperature and the flavors are even more pronounced. I also picked up on a touch of brown sugar and slight woodiness.

M- Mouthfeel was medium to full bodied. I was expecting a hefty, big double stout and Clown Shoes nailed it.

O- Vampire Slayer is a "killer" brew. Be prepared for a great conversation because you and others imbibing will be most certainly sipping on this one. The $8 price tag is a steal for this massive, flavorful double stout.
