Poured into a snifter from a 750 ml. bottle.

A: Black as night with a thin tan head that quickly settles to a thin ring around the surface. Retention and lacing are minimal, which strikes me as odd because a beer of this strength should still retain some head.

S: Earthy hops actually show up first, followed by dark fruits, molasses, licorice, coffee, and a touch of smoke.

T: Much like the aroma. Coffee, bitter chocolate, and dried dark fruit, along with hints of licorice. Hops lend a dry, earthy, and floral finish to the beer. Slightly smoky, but more prominent on the nose.

Notes: Full bodied and very flavorful, with incredible balance. Alcohol is hardly noticeable, except for a slight warming sensation with each sip. I really enjoy this beer, and wish I would have bought some more to age. With this being my first experience with Clown Shoes, I can say I am thoroughly impressed. Well-done!

A: poured a dark as night black in color with a dense finger worth of brown head with good retention and left some good frothy lacing sticking to the glass.

S: plenty of roastiness coming out of the aroma with a bit of chocolate, hints of piney hops, coffee bitterness is noticeable, a little malty sweetness and some underlying booze is barely there.

T: the chocolate character was more dominate on the flavor alongside a little hop bite, plenty of roastinesss, maybe a little brown sugar, the booze was well balanced and not over done, a little coffee but plenty of malty sweetness.

M: the brew was medium to full in body with a fair amount of carbonation which had a sweet, roasty, slightly hoppy, mild astringent and silky finish

O: I thought it was a solid imperial stout and would have another go at it if I could. Good lookin out hopbrizio for bringing this brew.

Had this in a bomber poured into my Tucher 300ml glass.

A: Black, opaque with tan head that grew to 2" on first pour, then dissipated to a thin cap; good lacing.

S: Roasty malts and dark fruitiness, very nice, inviting.

T: Nice, malty front, pretty much follows the smell; slight bitter chocolate and roastiness in the back; little hops presence that I could detect, the alcohol taste is nonexistent.

M: Smooth and silky, goes down easy, almost too easy.

O: This is a damn good stout that drinks easy and makes me wish I had bought more. Strongly recommend this one. I may go outside here in a minute and try to slay some vampires...

poured from a bomber dated 09/2012 into a central waters snifter on a sunday afternoon watching some football and relaxing

a- poured black with just a little tan head rising and falling fairly quickly. no light getting through at all. looks like an imperial stout alright

s- milk and some bittersweet chocolate, a bit of coffee, roasted malt and dark fruit. nice rich nose

t- taste follows the nose quite a bit. rich chocolate, some roasted coffee and a bit of bitter chocolate on the finish. a lot of roasted malt and just a hint of hop bitterness. a very rich, sort of subtle imperial stout. the booze doesnt show up in the taste at all which was sort of surprising. was thinking of cellaring one of these, but i dont know how much it would improve with age.

m- nice creamy texture. again, the booze doesnt really present itself at all. beer feels thick, but not heavy like other stouts. carbonation is not high, but thats the way i prefer my imperial stouts.

overall, i thought it was a well made imperial stout. nothing that blew me away, but an enjoyable drink. nice creamy texture and rich flavors, but seems a bit muted and not terribly complex. still, the price wasnt terrible at $9 a bomber and i might pick it up again. a good imperial stout, but nothing that makes it stand out and take it to the next level.

The beer pours a rouge black near to midnight with a light tan quarter fingers width head. It sits in the glass completely opaque, which is quite encouraging. Lacing is thin and splotchy along the sides of the glass. On the nose the beer smells of a mélange of different things. Slight roasted malt sits alongside dark chocolate, coffee, a damp bready smell, and the faintest hint of citrus hops and an even fainter hint of sweet alcohol. This beer tastes rich and creamy with great splashes of coffee, chocolate, and the faintest hint of smoked malts and woods. The beer begins as sweet cream and slight alcohol before opening into cream and coffee with chocolate side notes and a lingering faint bitter note of citrus, pine, and smoky camp fire. This beer feels fantastic of on the mouth. Thick and creamy with a soft carbonation that caresses the tongue in a beautiful embrace. This beer has a light chewiness to it as well, and leaves the mouth slightly wet, but the tongue feels dry with coffee and smoke. Overall this is a great success from Clown Shoes. The mouthfeel is succulent and smooth, and overall this beer is delicious for sipping with nice complexity, and great full flavors. This beer is worth drinking for sure!

A- Crypt like black brew. Heavy pour produces a towering charcoal head. As the head rises up to the top though, it settles to about a lasting finger thick cap. Suprisingly, the color changes also to tan. A good amount of lacing left on the glass as well.

S- Usual suspects. Heavy roasted malt, cocoa, and a little bit of smoke. Some marshmellow notes, and a bit of roast. Burnt toast. The chocolate cocoa and roast blend extremely well, no scent of booze either.

T- It starts out by a bit of sweet dark fruits, but instantly gets kicked aside by roasted malts. What's best about this taste is how seemless the cocoa and smokiness blend together. Smoky chocolate deliciousness. No hint of alcohol.

M- Fairly light bodied for a stout, I'd say medium bodied really. High carbonation. I deffinitely like my stouts to be fuller. It's a shame that drinkability went away because you don't have to sip this, it drinks pretty easily.

O- This beer made me realize I definitely have a strong liking to smoked beers. The smoky element definitely add's to this and makes it really work. What may be the best aspect about this beer is how drinkable it is, and the fact you can't detect any alcohol. I sat on this several months, but will sit on the Blaecorn Unidragon even longer. It'd be nice if they brew this again.
