Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a poco grande glass. Bottled on 06/04/2013.

A- Dark black body with a 2 finger foamy head. No light shines through when held up to the light.

S-Licorice, dark fruits, char, roasted dark malts, bittersweet chocolate.

T/M-Roast, chocolates, licorice, espresso, prune juice. Light carbonation. Alcohol is hidden really, only shows up once it warms up with a slight burn in the back of the throat.

O-A decent imperial stout that was much better than I expected. Even though the licorice is dominant to me I still really enjoyed this and plan on buying another bottle to cellar for a year or 2 to see how it may mature.

Appearance: poured a really dark amber (looks black) into a glass (not sure of the name) got a nice 2" foamy head, light brown in color. Head settles into a nice ring with a light lace in the middle. At this point I unexplicably have a boner.

Smell: definately Kona coffee with a boozy essence, with hints of vanilla. I took several good whiffs to pick up the scent but it wasnt very aromatic.

Taste: surprisingly sweet almost like licorice very boozy. As it warms up the chocolate and.coffee flavor comes out with a bit of vanilla. Definately taste better warm.

Mouthfeel: syrupy full mouth feel with warm finish

Overall: good stout must be the holy water that adds the kick to it

In review is a 2012 vintage.

A - Pours dark, dark black with a thin toffee colored lacing ring and very thick and viscous looking when the glass is swirled, nice legs.

S - Dark roast aroma with slight booziness, vanilla, some sweet chocolate molasses, and cream.

T - Taste is predominantly dark chocolate molasses, roast, dark fruit, with some alcohol effervescence.

M - Incredibly thick and slippery with a full body, a little syrupy..

O - After sitting for a year and a half it's not bad, next time 'will open when younger.

Clown Shoes Vampire Slayer

Appearance: dark brown, some good lacing, and a small head.

Smell: molasses, brown sugar, and a light vanilla.

Taste: light brown sugar, nice warm barley, and a sweet molasses finish.

Mouthfeel: chewy-yet-smooth medium body.

Overall:
This is a really nice stout. It is very pleasant. There is a slight sweetness in the finish.

Pretty dark-looking brew. Looks about black. Head is a thin disc of microbubbles.

Dark chocolate liqueur, licorice, dark roast, light smokiness, and hints of dark fruits. Delicious aroma.

Boozy, yes... tasty, absolutely. Dark chocolate and licorice with an immense roast character, despite easy semi-sweetness. Still smoky and slightly caramelly, in a dark way. Reminscent of black cherry, raisin, and oakwood. Fantastic stuff.

The body is rather hefty, but remarkably drinkable. The carb is of token strength. Really appropriate feel, if not surprisingly so.

I love partially smoky imperial stouts. This one is no exception. And, all the other components are 'plus'. Recommended.
