Pours out dark brown and opaque, with a light brown thick and frothy head that settles out slowly. Inviting aroma of cocoa and cabernet, some cherries.
Rich flavor upfront, chocolate milk, dark bread, honey and cherries, tending toward more of a sweet or milk stout rather than an imperial. Subtle peppery spice, but I was really expecting a nice smokey peppery kick from the description on the label. No hop flavors, and low bitterness. Alcohol strength is well hidden.
Mouthfeel is watery, a tad slick. Overall an okay beer, but it advertises better than it performs, and it's a little too pricey to not be too special.
