Bottle served at cellar temp in a duvel tulip

A - pours an opaque chocolate brown, thick mocha head, fades to nothing

S - smells of chocolate ad cinnamon with malt in the backbone

T - big amount of chocolate and coffee initially, undertones of cinnamon with a hint of chili, complemented by a small hint of alcohol burn

M - medium body, smooth

O - this is a different slant on a chocolate stout, quite drinkable, I would try this one again

22 oz bottle. Pours brown-black with a medium frothy tan head that goes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.

The aroma is subdued - roasted grains with a little cinnamon and chile.

The flavor is sweet chocolate malts with a little spice and some heat from the chile in the finish with some residual sweetness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, an OK stout. It's pretty subdued, and there are better alternatives.

a deep brown/black with a finger of tan head and nice silky lacing left behind. smells of licorice, toasted grain, cinnamon, chocolate, vanilla/bourbon. the flavor is of a slightly spicy chocolate.. coffee notes, definitely getting the flavor of the chili without the heat you'd expect from it. licorice, vanilla, dark chocolate.. all blend nicely together. medium body, moderate carbonation, silky smooth mouthfeel with a bit of fizz to give it that "beer" feel.

finally, a bottle of clown shoes i can get behind. this is a very nice stout, but falls short in the chili compared to the last few of the style i had (elysian, ska, new belgium).. still a very nice subtle imperial stout. can't feel or taste the abv, which could be dangerous!

A: Pours a dark cola brown with a fair amount of tan head, which dissipates to a thin ring fairly quickly, but retains enough to leave decent lacing.

S: Strong roasted malt with a fair amount of sweet booze.

T: Strong and roasty, with a thick malt base, and more bitter towards the finish. The finish is wet and has a slightly acidic note towards the back.

M: Full body, medium carbonation.

Overall, decent, but not amazing. The balance doesn't seem quite right; it does change a fair amount at different temperatures, though, so perhaps this could be great if chilled just the right amount.
