The golden amber body was clear, with large head and below average lacing. The smell was pine and grapefruit from the American hops. The taste was very citric, with grapefruit, tangerine, and lime, and some pith like bitterness. The malt was evident in some candy like sweetness. The finish was mineral laced and dry. Mouthfeel was spot on for the style, balanced between sticky and slippery. Another quality offering from Clown Shoes.

On tap at the Oak Cafe. It pours a golden, overcast color with some tangerine edges; translucent, yet pretty damn murky. Not much of a head at all, rather, it's just a thin, swampy film that barely stretches across the top of the beer, with a slightly thicker collar that outlines the circumference of the beer.

The aroma is laden with primarily two things: (1) pines, and (2) orange, orange, orange. Heavy orange and various citrus peels with a collision of pines, hop oils, and plenty of leaves. It could stand to be a bit stronger, but there's a pretty good balance of leafy and fruity. Nothing amazing, just good ol' balance here.

A mild bitterness wafts in with the first sip, backed by a super strong orange character; so strong that it even is a bit juicy and sweet. I'd be surprised to find that all of this orange flavor is solely from hops - orange adjunct perhaps? Oily, slightly resinous hops combat the fruit, creating that nice bittersweet balance that was on the nose. Faint pale malt in the finish; oily and crisp on the mouth with heavy carbonation.

Definitely not a bad beer, just nothing that puts it up and over the edge, either. The orange flavor is far too strong and juicy to be from hops alone, so my guess is that this has some kind of orange addition to give it that extra burst. Something that can easily be put back, and I'd smash it if offered one; the problem is that I couldn't see myself ever buying or ordering it again.

In a pint glass this beer was a hazy gold color with a medium-sized white head. There was a tiny bit of lace.

Mostly citrus aroma, some pine. A good amount of sweet malt.

Lots of grapefruit. Lots. A little resiny pine. Some biscuit.

Astringent, hoppy.

Nice enough.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy copper amber with a big fluffy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is tropical fruits and resiny hops and some sweet biscuit malt.

The flavor is sweet biscuity toffee malts with a little tropical fruit and a decent amount of bitterness but not a lot of flavor from the hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a bit watery with smooth carbonation.

Overall, an OK IPA.

The beer pours a clear orange color with a large, fluffy white head. The aroma has some biscuit and toffee malt, with some pine and a little bit of resin thrown in. The flavor is very similar, with the pine mixing very well with the juicy orange citrus notes from the hops. There is also some biscuit malt and a low amount of bitterness. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Clear apricot colored with a thick and dimpled beige head that lingers long. Low aroma of citrus and honey. Bright and fresh flavors of citrus and honey, lots of tangerine and grapefruit, some pithy orange rind. Moderately assertive bitterness, but good balance against the honey malt. Wait, here comes more citrusy hops and bitterness, forget balance. Even mouthfeel, a bit tingly. Very good beer overall.

(Served in a nonic)

A- This beer pours a reddish hued deep caramel body with a sea of microbubbles pushing up a beige cream head.

S- The aroma of resin piny hops is full but a bit one dimensional. It fades a bit as the beer opens up.

T- The woody green hops turn spicy in the finish with very little bitterness lingering in the dry finish. As the beer opens the bitterness grows but never to strong.

M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a tight scrubbing fizz that enhances the hops a bit and no alcohol heat noticed.

O- This beer is a bit dry and has a fizz that starts to overpower the flavor. There is some nice hop flavors but a bit one dimensional and the malt is pretty hidden.

A friend borught a bottle to a neighborhood get together. The beer poured a clear orange color with white foamy head that laced. The smell had some biscuit and toffee malt, with some pine and a hint of citrus. The taste is very similar, with the pine and citrus notes being more prevalent from the hops. There is also some biscuit malt and a low amount of bitterness. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Overall a very tasty beer.

Slight haze to this amber brew. Nice attractive head builds and slowly settles to a thick, pillow type cap. Quite a bit of sticky lacing is left down the glass.

Aroma is a combination of bready malt and fruity hops. Not the most powerful aromatics but has some nice subtleties.

Nice balance of flavors. Clown Shoes is not trying to blast anyone's taste buds off with this IPA, but giving a well rounded beer. Slightly sweet malt, fruity esters, and bitter citrus hops.

Light bodied IPA. Good carbonation.

Overall I enjoyed this offering from Clown Shoes. A little expensive for what one gets, but still worth a try.

Poured from a 22 ounce bomber into a pint glass.

Pours medium amber with an inch of white foam. Lots of foam. Laces, sticks everywhere. Strong pine smell. Grassy.Firm. Hoppy start that slides into a juicy malt. Bitter fades, but lingers too. Very nice blend. Good IPA.
