Clear, burnt orange with a fine, beige cap. Decent head retention with sticky lace. Looks good. Floral aroma with lots of orange and grapefruit citrus, caramel, pith, and biscuit. Moderate bitterness, more oranges and grapefruit, toast, caramel, with a hint of alcohol and spice. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation, decent texture. I enjoyed the balance, more of an easy drinking IPA than a powerhouse.

This had to be an old beer or one that had gone bad because I like everything else that Clown Shoes does so I had high expectations for this beer and it just didnt live up.

I will remain loyal to the brand and may even try this again in the future. But this was overally carbonated and just all around bad.

Appearance - Nice clear golden/copper/amber color with a grainy thick of bubbles on top that leaves a nice lacing on the glass.

Smell - Damn, dirty hops, some pine needles in there, but also dirt. Maybe some citrus and bready malts but that's a stretch.

Taste - Dirty hops, like an amateur homebrewed IPA. Tastes like they just threw everything they had into primary and expected liquid gold. Instead they got liquid dirt.

Mouthfeel - Gritty, grainy mouth feel. Alc covered. Aftertaste is undefined bitterness. I've done better with my homebrews (and I'm not good).

Overall - I wouldn't buy it again. Most homemade IPAs I've tried have been similar in caliber to this. Plus for the price it's completely out of line.

Pours a ruddy brown with an impressive creamy foam topping. Plenty of lacing down the pint. Aroma of caramel and citrus hops. In the taste, citrus, mild licorice and herb. Citrusy and piney all day, some caramel and gingerbread like malt. Medium bodied and well carbonated. Overall, this was a nice IPA. Too bad it's retired.

A: Dense cadmium orange has a rush of effervesce with a 3+ inch cornsilk, mushroom capping that retained nicely for several minutes with only minor decay. Heavy chunky lace deposits cling to the vessel with about 50% coverage.

S: soft, dry toasted malt, flowery orange, soft citrus peel with a trail of pilsner grains. Strength is light per style.

T: Flavor was sweet initially, toasted malt with a fresh citrusy-orange hopping. Floral lemon, semi-dry crystal malt finish. Fresh grapefruit hints, spicy with a touch of tropical fruit.

M: softly carbonated with a quiet demeanor, lighter end of medium body with a smooth texture, somewhat buttery, with a dry lemon toasted finish.

O: Overall a fairly easy session style ipa, decent lingering hoppiness, the body is light, though feels like it thins out a bit off the tongue. final verdict is okay.
