Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

Got them fancy clothes. Got that big car, suicide doors, 8 track stereo, color TV's. Livin' the American dream, now you've got a brew as smooth as chorus from Al Green. Brash Brewing and Clown Shoes each made a brown ale at Mercury, then blended them. You don't have to have solid gold pants to enjoy... but it helps.

Poured into a pint glass

A: Totally pimped out in a chocolate brown suit with a tan one finger hat that dipped far low one eye. Nasty tan lacing that ran down the side oh, so elegantly.

S: bitchin' chocolate and vanilla mix with a malty backbone. A half pint of alcohol in the back pocket.

T: slaps you upside the head with that malty vanilla attitude with caramel and chocolate bringing up the rear. Sweet, robust, sassy.

M: medium with a frothy swish on the tongue and tons of kickass carbonation.

O: a helluva ride. Wish they kept making this cool dude. Now dat's one fine brown ale, mama.

A - a nice looking dark walnut brown. The medium bodied brown head holds up well and lingers on the sides.

S - excellent chocolate malt nose profile with a really nice warm sweetness to it. If I didn't know better I would tell you I was about to partake in a nice chocolate porter.

T - The taste is consistent with the smell. It is a nice imperial porter. I know that isn't the style but it is the smell, taste and mouthfeel so I am sticking with it! The tast balances the warmth of the alcohol with the sweet, smooth and roasted malt profile. A hint of the hops at the back of the tongue creates a complex beer but not before a little bit of that roasted goodness in the after taste.

M - It is a moderately thick beer, again much more like a porter than a brown. It is fizzy especially around the edges which works well on the tongue with the thickness of the beer.

O - All in all this is a fun surprise of a beer from Clown Shoes and Brash. I don't have a ton of experience with either (more Clown Shoes.) But the complexity of this beer that was pulled off professionally has made me a fan of their craftsmanship. Worth the grab if you can find any aged bottles left.

A - poured into snifter a dark brown almost black, one finger off white to tan head. Disappeared quick but left great lacing throughout.

S - sweet dark malt character notes if toffee, molasses, tootsie roll, and a slight roastyness.

T - flavor is great, I originally saw double brown ale on the bottle and didn't get my hopes up, not entirely into brown ales as much but this brings mounds of flavor to the party. The taste carries over the complex notes in the aroma of a sweet dark roasted malt, tootsie roll and molasses. Couldn't discern flavor hops as much but there is ample Bittering hops. Alcohol is subdued for the abv but this was bottled 6/12 so it's had time to mellow out. It leaves a nice hop and roasted malt flavor on the palate that lingers for sometime.

M - thick, syrupy with medium carbonation, slow sipping but the feel matches what I would expect for the style.

O - this is a great brew, and a great brown at that. It has some qualities that push it more towards an imperial porter, however the color and various tootsie roll/molasses notes are all brown ale. I am impressed with this beer, and slightly saddened it was a one off. Just a testiment to the greatness and variety of American craft brews.

Pours into a becker a deep dark chocolate brown with a creamy one finger lighter beige that never really settles.Aromas of chocolate and more chocolate, there is more brown sugar and a big shot of sweet alcohol, smells like a sweet boozy bomb. The feel is nice and creamy with lighter carbonation,it slides down easy.As expected it's pretty boozy with chocolate malt flavors really hitting home, some caramel and just a smattering of earthiness in the finish. It's not bad but it's a sipper, maybe not suited for 4:30 in the afternoon drinking like Iam doing.

appearance: Quite dark brown with some cola highlights. big messy mocha head.
smell: A bit of cocoa but mostly, not much happening.
taste: A lot richer than the nose. Nice combo of nutty chocolate and a little hoppy bitterness.
mouthfeel: noticeable carbonation.
overall: not bad, not great.

Very dark brown, cola ruby highlights, somewhat black in color brown ale. Beige head, that leaves a strong ring for all 22 ounces.

Mild chocolate aroma, maybe a little coffee. Some yeasty, caramelized fruit lingers around with the high abv. % to make a nice smelling sipper of a beer.

Fruity, yeasty chocolate, with a warm boozy finish. The finish has plenty of abv%, but its not overwhelming by any means. Pretty good sipper, tailor made for a pimp I guess.

Well carbonated mouthfeel, but has some smooth roasted notes as well.

Pretty good, flavorful sipper in my opinion. I like it.
