22oz bomber purchased at Pinocchio's in Media, PA. Poured into a Chimay goblet.
AP: Fairly straight black in colour, like treacle. Not much head on this when poured, only about 1/4" of a tan head that dissipates to a rim and dusting with minimal lacing.
AR: Bloody hell, I can smell the Bourbon booziness and the glass is sitting on the desk at such a length that my outstretched arm can touch the glass with my fingertips. Damn. Vanilla, chocolate and a little bit of roast as well. Not really getting any other aromas on this, but the ones that are here smell delicious.
T: Pretty much spot on to the nose. Wow, this thing has got some Whiskey heat on it. It starts out somewhat smooth and mellow and you can really taste the Whiskey in it, then the heat goes up the longer it lingers in your mouth. Finish is pretty hot. Probably a little too hot and this one could have benefited from 6-12 months of cellaring. The Whiskey heat takes over a little too much, IMO.
M: This feels a bit thin in body for a Stout. Silky smooth texture, but lacking in body. Maybe that's why the Whiskey heat comes through so much, because it lacks chewiness?
OV: Well, if you like a strong Whiskey presence in your Stout, then this is the beer for you. Me, I prefer more balance and harmony and this beer has neither. Still good, but not great by a long stretch. Due to the thin body, I don't even think a year of cellaring would help this much.
