This beer pours a very dark brown, with a slight ruby tinge, pretty close to opaque but not quite. Almost no head at all.

On the nose it has a sweet nutty smell, not too boozy or anything though. You can pick up a trace of the barrels, but its not overpowering by any means.

Flavor wise, its pretty similar, slightly nutty with a tiny bit of sweetness that comes in afterwards. Finishes with a nice barrel aged flavor.

Its got a little more carbonation that I would expect for an aged stout, and for an imperial stout in general, but its pretty slick and easy to down.

Overall, its a nicely blended stout I love the regular unidragon, the barrel aging was definitely done right.

appearance: Very dark brown. Slight ruby highlights when held to light. Average (for a high ABV beer) tan head and lacing. I may just be in a different state of mind but this looks better than I recall the un-barrelled version.
smell: Charred smoke with a sweet note (I guess the bourbon?). A bit of chocolate. Again, this smells much better...richer, more complex than I remember the un-barrelled version.
taste: The bourbon is more prominent than the nose but otherwise the taste and nose are very similar. A little harsh (alcohol and smoke) but I kinda like that.
overall: a damn good imp stout. Tasty and different.

Poured from the bottle into a snifter glass. Bottled April 17th 2013.

Classic dark walnut brown to black body, some faint red, very small, hues along the edges. Makes a decent light cocoa head of about a finger with moderate staying power. Some leopard like spotted lacing, and a bubbly but good sized collar.

Nice soft roasty malts, slightly velvety smelling and hinting of a silky palate. A bit one dimensional, not much else, maybe some small vanilla tones, but not much hint of excellent barrel aging.

Palate works out nicely. Good thick and controlled ganache like bitter chocolate, with large roasting bitterness in the end. Subtle piney hop bitterness after a swallow that lingers. Large amounts of dark chocolate and solid bitterness. Good silky feel to carry flavors forward. Really impressed with the mouthfeel on the Clown Shoes stouts it seems. Mild warmth not boozy hot for the finish.

Overall it doesn't seem to bring some of the greatness of the barrel notes and qualities, but it delivers as a real solid stout either way.

22 oz bottle poured into a tulip

A- Black with a small tan head.

S- Chocolate, roasted coffee, smokey, some vanilla, some bourbon and oak.

T- Chocolate, smokey, coffee, bourbon, oak, hot finish, bitter, licorice.

M- Hot, medium body.

O- I am enjoying this more and more as I drink it, not the best barrel aged stouts, but worth the money. Wish the body was thicker and a little creamy.

Poured from a 22oz. Bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance - Almost opaque black, with just a hint of ruby/brown on the edges when held up to a light source.

Aroma - I might've had this a bit too cold, as I didn't get much in the aroma. I could faintly pick out some smoke, wood (?), and maybe the slightest bit of chocolate.

Taste - First thing I noticed was the smoke and bourbon (sweetness). Then the classic RIS flavors try to push through: chocolate, toasty malt, slight vanilla...

Mouthfeel - This was a bit too much in the middle for me. I wish it were to be almost no carbonation, or a bit more. It was slightly light, but not enough. IMO. The carbonation doesn't assist the flavors in the way I feel it should.

Overall - I would drink this again, but only if I had the Blaecorn side by side, so as to compare the two. It's definitely good, but nothing to call home about.
