Thanks to corpulent for bringing this over last month. Pours a black and brown liquid, looks normal. Beige head about 1/3" on the top. Very mild and minimal barrel presence on this one. What did they age it for 3 days or something? Just lacked aromas of oak or bourbon. Other than that, the aroma was chocolatey and nice. Alcohol nowhere to be found, neither was the heat from any chiles or cinnamon. All chocolate and some roast.

Taste, an improvement, still lacked the barrel character, but the chocolate was really well done. Vanilla became prominent. Some of the warmth that is developing might be bourbon, but it really has no bourbon flavor. Just the warmth. Of course that could be from the peppers too. Carbonation was just right. Toffee and caramel character compliments the chocolate. Not overly sweet.

Its good tasting, nice mouthfeel, but when you advertise barrel aged, I'd like the barrel to come through a little bit more. No off flavors, just they need a kick in the pants.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 2/25/2014. A bit of a gusher upon opening. Pours dense pitch black color with a 2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, oak, dark bread, light cinnamon, light chile pepper, light smoke, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt, bourbon barrel, and light spice notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, oak, light cinnamon, light chile pepper, light smoke, and roasted earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, roast, toast, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, oak, light smoke, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity and robustness of dark/roasted malt, bourbon barrel, and light spice flavors; with an awesome malt/barrel balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy and lightly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome barrel aged imperial stout. Even though most of the spicing did not have big presence; the robust dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel flavor balance is awesome; and this is very smooth to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle foamed over, and had a ton of carbonation for a BA imperial stout. Head was fairly big and fuzzy, dark tan; brew is a beautiful solid black. Lacing is scattered and nice.

Slightly acidic barrel aroma, mixed with roasted barley, vanilla, and cream. No hint of chocolate or chile in the aroma. Slight coffee smell from the malt (I do not believe there is any coffee added). Quite a bit going on in the aroma, but it's very subdued and subtle overall.

Flavor is a much more full blend of the aroma, and then some. Definitely some heavy wood flavor; vanilla; smooth milk chocolate; roasted barley (but not overpowering); maybe just the tiniest hint of chile (building slightly as you go); and a nice, subtle bourbon note at the end.

Thick, full mouthfeel; silky and slightly chewy at the same time. The barrel characteristics are perfectly subtle and not a detriment to enjoying your sip; the bourbon presence and alcohol heat are very warming, but only in the throat long after the sip is gone. There is virtually no alcohol presence in the mouth. Long, sticky finish.

One of the most subtle bourbon barrel aged stouts I've ever enjoyed (not surprising, given the ~11% ABV). It's also one of the chewiest BA stouts I've had (BCBS manages to pull this off, as well).

Minor criticisms: for a chile stout, I'd like more heat. For a BBA stout, I'd like a little more bourbon presence (instead of a more general wood-aged flavor, which is what I get more of here). Overall, I think that's what keeps this beer just over outstanding overall, but far below its potential.
