12 oz. bottle poured into pint glass. I've had many Clown Shoes beers before, with Miracle IPA and the RIS being the top, but this was the first DIPA i've had from them.
A: Hazy, bright orange. Slight lacing around the edges.
S: Oddly, the first smell is a lemony-breading followed by some pine and grassy notes. Nice spearmint background in between the two dominant smells. That's a first.
T: Starts of sweet but quickly gives way to a dominant hop profile of tropical fruit (pineapple, maybe some star fruit), spearmint and pine. Ends with a very nice biscuit malt backbone.
M: Medium bodied. Bitterness is persistent throughout the entire thing but very nicely balanced with the hop and malt backbones.
O: Another very nice offering from Clown Shoes brewing. I've recently moved to New England and this brewery is more readily available up here which I am enjoying. This was the first beer I've had that is single-hopped galaxy. I really enjoyed experiencing all the nuances of this hop. The only other time I've been really impressed with a galaxy-hopped beer is Barrier Breweries Bittersweet Pale Ale from Oceanside, NY. Not the best DIPA i've had, not by far, but a nice offering and I will have again.
