Single bottle from a 4-pack poured into a tulip glass. Cloudy reddish orange amber brew with two fingers of creamy beige head. Aroma is citrus (grapefruit), melon, guava, and flower shop in equal measure, rather green and vegetal perhaps but pleasant. Crisp and smooth, with a gentle but flavorsome (non-coarse) bitterness. Relatively light bodied and moderately carbonated, the malts are subdued and the hop flavors themselves are dank and redolent with citrus rind, kiwi, and pot resin notes. Finishes quite piney and resinous, with lingering lemon/lime rind, fresh cut grass, and flower water. Great showcase for the aggressive side of Galaxy hops, less tropical than advertized but massively floral and aromatic. A peppery, musty, earthy spice (anise seed?) emerges late. Although workmanlike and solid enough on first impression, this one is not a world-beater. Could grow on me with repeated consumption.

Appearance: The color is very pretty--a deep golden orange shade that reminds me of dried apricots. Some chill haze, and a soft, snow white head. 3/3

Aroma: Equally lovely is the aroma. A mixture of apricots and honey is most evident. The smell is very sweet. So sweet, in fact, that it had me thinking of gummy bears. This might sound sickening, but a solid malt backbone somehow managed to keep things balanced, as did the refreshing nature of the hops. 11/12

Taste: A medium-high bitterness level counters the flavor of sweet mandarin orange marmalade. As the beer warns, a bit of additional complexity is found in buttery biscuit malt, grapefruit, and passion fruit. Likable, but there is a bit of a fight between the sweet and the bitter. 16/20

Mouthfeel: Excellent mouthfeel--the beer pulls off a neat trick by being crisp and refreshing, as well as chewy and buttery. Medium carbonation, and a dry finish. 5/5

Overall: The abundance of galaxy hops make this beer memorable, but I still expected more. It's good, but I certainly wouldn't rank it among my favorite IPAs. It's flavor seems to rock back and forth between sweet and bitter, never quite holding steady. 6/10
