This thing is pitch black, thick and viscous. The head, light brown in color, rests strongly on top of the beer after reaching one finger. It leaves patches of lacing in good quantity.
Malts form a strong foundation in the nose, and the spicing is pretty good. It sort of blends together, but is still distinguishable for the most part. There's plenty of chocolate. The cardamom seems evident, and cinnamon flashes in and out but is strong when it's in. There's a note of something like black licorice. Some char builds up as it sits.
The taste follows pretty well. The spices make for a somewhat chai-like character, but at times are somewhat less than distinguishable on the whole. It's a tasty beer, with a nice milk chocolate flavor to it, though the char builds up to just a little harshness in the end of the sip as it warms.
The feel is a bit crisp, a little too much spritz for a big stout, but it's also robust and creamy.

So hard to be fair to this - bottled July 2015…so.
Pours a dark brown with reddish highlights - scant reddish brown rim of fine bubbles.
Nose has an interesting mixture of spices - cardamom, ginger, chai spice - hint of chocolate.
Taste slightly sweet - chai, vanilla, dark chocolate, cardamom and hints of cinnamon and ginger.
Smooth, thin side of medium bodied at 10% - muted carbonation of 7 years of aging. Indian spice lingers.
So many things here - not a chai fan, so much age - not bad but not really for me.

Would prolly given a better score if it was fresher. Still an outstanding brew. Very tastful yet different.

Appearance - Pours a cola brown with a finger of bubbly tan head.
Smell - Roasted malts, chai spices (cardamom, cinnamon, clove, ginger, nutmeg), hint of vanilla and hint of earthy hops.
Taste - Roasted malts followed by the chai spices of cardamom, cinnamon, clove, ginger, and nutmeg). The hint of vanilla and earthy hops help to finish the brew off.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with low to moderate carbonation. Finishes smooth with the chai spices lingering.
Overall - A spiced stout that displays the Indian aromas to a tee. I feel that the taste could be a little more amped up with the Indian spices.

Wow-- this one was different. Definitely chocolatey, but the spices and chai tea flavors came through.
I was hoping for more bitterness but the sytle doesn't really allow that.
The alcohol is well disguised here. Doesn't taste like a 10% brew.

Day 21 of the Craft Beer Advent Calendar.
L: Dark brown, almost black, with a nice brown head that leaves some nice lacing down the side.
S: Nutmeg chocolate smell with a slight hoppy smell.
T: Strong nutmeg taste almost reminds me of a pumpkin beer, but this one has a lot more chocolate in place of the pumpkin.
F: Heavy body feel with a nice aftertaste.
O: A pretty good beer from this Calander would defiantly have this one again.
