Clearly out of retirement as sampled on Cask at the Feathers, London SW1 (JAN '12)

Poured into an English half pint glass to a slightly cloudy pale yellow colour with a very small white head that soon subsided

Was expecting a stronger lemon smell from this beer, but only very subtle, faint smell of wheat and hops but overall no strong senses to hit the nose with, slight fruity aroma

Taste wise again, not a lot going on here very slight lemon flavour along with subdued hops and a weakish bitter finish and aftertaste. Not really getting corriander, but some spice flavour there

Fairly clean and refreshing finish, but overall nothing special, probably the weakest beer I've sampled from the Hopback family!

Pours a very pale yellow colour, exceptionally clear, almost to the point that it is colourless. Head is initially extremely firm and boisterous, but it collapses like weak meringue to a sudsy foam on the top. Lots of carbonation. Very vibrant looking beer at least.

Quite a lagery nose, very euro on first impression. Maybe a hint of lemongrass, but there's certainly something more earthy, unpleasant and generic about it as well. It's like pulling up a bunch of lemon grass by the roots and sniffing the root end. Pretty bland overall.

Taste is similar, although the grass overtakes the lemongrass, leaving a rigid organic note smack bang in the middle of my tongue. Very light otherwise, quite a thin palate, feeling spritzy and empty. Mouthfeel is particularly weak.

There's very little to this beer -- it ends up weak and pretty drab. I'm certainly not a big fan.

Bottle-conditioned, coming in a slim-neck 500ml brown bottle. BB 27/09/08, served cool in a straight imperial pint glass.

A: coming in a pretty clean, pale straw hue, white fluffy foam that settles gradually to a thin sparse blanket, on top of rather sporadic and quiet fizziness.
S: during the pour, Hopback's trademark hop+yeast mixture already manifests itself assertively; a good sniff reveals slightly stinky dried grass, salty-sweet yeasts and wheat-malts, a very clean edge of citrus fruits and citrus peels, backed by a faint tinge of lemon grass with a little salty floral aroma. Although coriander (seed?) is said to be used in the brew, there is very little sign of it - for what I can sense anyway.
T: almost crisp or very clean-textured biscuity & wheat malts come in abundance with a soothing edge of raw-ish/gristy graininess, balanced well with an equally clean flow of dried-grassy +stinky hops, lemon peel, and moderate yet everlasting herbal bitterness; turning semi-dry, mildly spicy in the finish where the slightly "mineral" savoury-sweetness also lingers. Just like the nose, lemon grass and coriander are rather subdued in the flavour, only making themselves felt at the very last stage of tasting.
M&D: despite the "quiet" appearance, the texture comes softly carbonated, underlining the crisp & refreshing flavour just well. Overall, this is a light-bodied little brother of Hopback's Summer Lightning with a delicate addition of lemon grass but little sign of coriander. An easy-drinking summer beer.

This is a pleasant enough bottle-conditioned beer. The Lemongrass and coriander are not dominant, although personally I would have appreciated a little more hop flavour. In some ways this reminded me of English summer wheat beers, it goes down very easily, but with very little bitterness.

The label encourages the drinking of this with spicy and oriental food, but I don't think it's flavours would be a match. Certainly the beer did not reminder me of Thai food in any way.

I'll buy it again, but I wouldn't drink 2 bottles in one evening.

Pale, clear gold colour. Lightly floral grassy, lemony nose. An approacable ale. Fairly light in all respects, lemony, grassy, with some late coriander spicyness and some floral hops, frsh and summery, with a dry-ish, lightly bitter finish. NOt too bad.
