A - pours a deep opaque black color. Full and frothy three fingers worth of deep khaki foam on top. Dissipates fairly quickly but leaves no trace on the glass.

S - pleasant aroma. Strong notes of cinnamon are most prominent. There is a spicy pepper and peppermint like tinge as well as chocolate shavings.

T - taste is rather funky and slightly sour. my first thought is that this is infected. there are notes of chocolate and plenty of dusty cinnamon but the out of place acidity really detracts from the experience as a whole.

M - medium bodied, with a medium carbonation and a slightly watery texture.

O - I really did enjoy the aroma but it does seem to be infected. shame. I'd like to try this again to see what it's like regularly.

Poured into an imperial nonic a deep cola color with a little reddish brown hue to it,a thinner khaki colored head atop.A good shot of cinnamon peaks through the roast in the nose,I picked up a little vanilla tinge as well.Cinnamon really hits hard on the palate, maybe a bit to hard,it's sharp and almost spicy.A cola feel in the mouth it's thin and prety sharp. There is good roast that somewhat balances out the cinnamon flavors but the cinnamon flavors are no joke. It's ok but is not really refined,Iam not sure if I would buy again or not.

22oz. A pretty thick looking used oil brown. Nice tan head, kind of lauered from light to dark, a respectable looking brew.

Aroma, chocolate, vanilla, some sweet spice, cinnamon or nutmeg.

Taste, A little acrid roast at first, not really pleasant. Improves some from there. Cocoa and Christmas cookie. Finish is pretty dry roast and cocoa again.

Medium bodied, maybe a tad watery and thin. A bit one dimensional taste wise. Drinks easy enough once you get by the initial acridity.

Deep brown pour with very thin dark cream head. No retention and very little lace, but does leave a very thin sheen down the back of the glass.

Nose is more of a brown ale, sweet with sugar and a touch of molasses. Cinnamon combines with the roast malt to give off a toffee smell.

Flavors are very sweet as well. Molasses, toffee, light roast malt, cinnamon, light sweet tea all combine. Cinnamon gives a light metallic aftertaste.

Feel is a bit thin, but about right for the style.

Worth a shot, but would definitely be better in colder weather.

Poured from a spanking new 22oz. into a Roth pint glass.

Gorgeous walnut brown color. Looks black at first but draws the eyes into that warm brown hiding within the glass. Quickly receding khaki head that refuses to diminish beyond a graham-cracker-thick and incredibly mousse-y cap.

Smells fantastic. Like candles that get burned around the holidays. Like ginger snaps and molasses cookies. Assertive but not pushy cinnamon nose layered over dark chocolate malt with some coffee floating around the edges.

More of the same, but in reverse. The cinnamon only presents as a kind of heat at first (in the way that cinnamon gum is hot, but mellower), and the initial impression is of caramel and chocolate malts. These are very satisfying, despite the fact that they never truly fill out the flavor of the beer. The finish is long, drying, and that's where the cinnamon really gets rolling. Several minutes between sips and you feel like you've been eating a cinnamon cookie or something.

Feels thinner on the palate than I would have expected by there is a velvety wash on the finish that makes up for it. Make no mistake, the beer feels creamy, but not terribly thick.

Overall, a showcase of technical brilliance. A winter-worthy beer that conjures up the taste of home and brisk autumn days.

Majority of Porters and even stouts right now are very much the same concept. Use vanilla, oatmeal, chocolate or some type of fruit like cherry. Pretty much the same type when you look at a cooler. This beer is different with the use of cinnamon. It has that great flavor of cinnamon with a great back to it. Most porters have that chalky or water down flavor. This had none of it. It was very smooth and ready to drink. Even my girlfriend liked it and she hates beer. This brewery is a top brewery.

On tap at the brewery

Pours a deep, dark brown with a great lacing of head. Smells of roasted malt and cinnamon, exactly what I was hoping for on the nose. The malt and cinnamon blend well for a rather refreshing porter. Mouthfeel is a little watery, but smooth. Not a bad beer from the new guys on the block in Raleigh.

On-tap at the Fox and Hound Pub and Grill in Raleigh, had to try something local.
Served in a standard pint glass, very dark and opaque, almost black, with a thin tan head. Long lasting foam leaft nice looking lace lines. The aroma has lots of cinnamon and burnt sugarlike sweetness. To start, the taste is a good amount of cinnamon, with the malt, cocoa, coffee flavor coming through. The beer is fairly light bodied with decent carbonation. As it warms and you drink more the cinnamon seems to get stronger and starts to overpower your taste buds. This is a very unique and interesting beer, but one was enough to sip on.

After trying the red, I was hoping that this would be better. It wasn't. After my buddies and I each bought a red and were disappointed, we decided to buy one and sample. Good thing we did. Appearance was good, smell was good as well, with a nice hint of cinnamon. But the cinnamon was also it's downfall when it came to taste. It was just overpowering and we could not get over it.

Pours dark brown in color with a 1/2 inch tan head that faded on the fast side and left decent lacing.

Smells of cinnamon, cherry, roasted malt, caramel and toasted grains; the nose was dominated by cinnamon.

The flavor was a mix of spices and cinnamon, sweet malt, dark fruit, brown sugar and toasted grains. Pretty interesting combo that had enough malt to tame the cinnamon.

Medium body, light carbonation and decent drinkability; felt on the lighter side for a porter. A good winter novelty beer, but not one to drink all night.

On tap at the Rockford in Raleigh 10/29/2010

Cloudy, brown appearance with some visible particulate.quickly dissipating beige head. The smell and flavor are dominated by cinnamon, but I feel like there is a nice porter hiding under there. Mouth-feel is thin, and I feel like this is my main problem with this beer. Although it went very well with my apple/ham/cheddar cinnamon powdered sugar sandwich I think this beer could benefit from a serious "re-toooling."
