This new beer from Twisted Pine Brewing really takes Hops to a new level. The strong California style hops bring this to a great taste in the mouth. The color and smell all add to the excitement of drinking this new IPA. After drinking this beer, you might find Hoppy Boy the flagship IPA to be mild. Love the citrusy flavor.

One of the best Colorado IPAs that you can buy in stores. On the sweeter, hop-forward side with light malt.

Poured into a shaker pint glass.

Look: Dirty burnt amber color with an eggshell colored head. A film of retention with pretty good lacing.

Aroma: Malty, spicy, fruity, with a finishing hoppy note.

Taste: More bitter from the start than the nose suggests. The malts are submerged under all of the citrus and hops. Wood and spice notes are present. A lot of bitter grapefruit rind in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium to heavy, dry.

Overall: Pretty balanced with just about every typical IPA flavor in it somewhere. Very bitter.

From a 355 ml bottle into a tulip.

A-A normal pour produces about two fingers of sticky, eggshell head. The head leaves nice lacing and has pretty good retention. The beer is light-golden in color and nearly clear. I can see a few streams of carbonation in the brew, but its not "active."

S-The aroma is a nice mixture of slightly sweet, juicy tropical fruits (pineapple and mandarin orange, mostly) and light caramel hops. There is a bit of leaf, pine, and floral flavor lurking in the background. I also sniff a bit of pepper as the beer warms.

T-The taste is more spicy, pine-forward, and bitter than the scent would suggest. There is still some juice and orange, but the flavor is more woodsy with pine and spice being the more prominent hop flavors, especially on the finish, which is long and bittering. A nice bit of caramel balances things out.

M-The feel is a bit light for my preference with an odd, ultra-fine carbonation that dissipates on the palate without much of an impression.

O-This is a surprisingly good IPA. (Surprising mostly because I had not heard any buzz about it). Anyway, this beer packs a decent amount of that infamous "West Coast" hop flavor without overdoing it and losing balance. I will definitely drink this again and if the mouthfeel were more substantial, I would have rated it higher.
