A superb American Amber Ale coming from this smaller brewery in CO even though it is contract brewed for the bottled beer. This brew was worth the hunt ... extremely flavourful and a treat for the taste buds.

Presentation: 12oz short brown with no freshness date.

Appearance: A healthy small bubbled off white lace adorns this richly amber hued brew.

Smell: Hint of dehydrated fruit and rounded toasted malt are in the nose.

Taste: Interesting and complex mix of fruity esters, toasted biscuity grain, a touch of malt sweetness and a sufficing hop bitterness in this medium bodied brew. Quite a malty brew with a toasted flavour that has an earthy rustic taste to it and that lingers into the after taste ... same with the semi coarse hop flavour that fades very slowly. Nice balance of residual sweetness and drying grain the finish also.

Notes: A superb American Amber Ale coming from this smaller brewery in CO even though it is contract brewed for the bottled beer. This brew was worth the hunt ... extremely flavourful and a treat for the taste buds.

Definitely amber, though with a slightly lighter leaning in the color, this one is clear and bright. The head is tight and frothy, almost an entire finger tall but just short. It's got good stick and more than moderate lacing by way of patches and some thin legs.
Malt-forward on the nose, this beer offers mostly some dark fruits and toasty, though a touch of herbal leaf gives a light bitterness. It's not particularly strong, but it pretty much fits the standard for the style.
The taste brings it up a notch, though, marrying the malty and hoppy elements in developing a flavorful and well-rounded beer. A little bit more earth is brought out with a stronger citrus element, a bit of zest mostly and particularly orange and grapefruit. It's still more focused on the malts, with lots of toast and earth and a little caramel, but the hops serve the palate well, too.
The feel is crisp and biting with a consistent smoothness in a medium body leaning light.

Poured into an Irish pint glass.

The beer is the standard deep amber color, lighter amber to copperish in the light. An off white head recedes quickly to a light wisp. Lacing is spotty, minimal. The aroma is well balanced with faint sweet caramel malts and just a touch of piny hops. The taste is equally balanced with good amount of caramel candy coming in through the malts, evened out by more citric grapefruity hops. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and goes down the hatch easily enough.

Overall, I really like the balance in this beer.

Poured into a cold pint glass with 1 finger head. Nice caramel color with a good, sweet aroma. Had a slightly bitter hoppy taste to it. Amber ales are a personal favorite of mine so I might be a little hard on it. Not sure if I'd buy again but overall okay.

12oz bottle

A- pours a clear light amber wisth a one finger head. No lacing throughout.

S- caramel malts with a light earth, grassy hop tone.

T- caramel malts with a bit of biscuit. Slight bitterness with an earthy, slightly spicy hop profile. If I was guessing I would say maybe galaxy hops? Or something close.

O- killer balance in all flavors. Light and very drinkable.

Enjoy

On tap at Kickbacks in Jax. Poured into a small snifter. Off-white head, moderate retention. Aroma is dominated by caramel malts, actually much sweeter than expected. Taste has a nice malt sweetness, slightly hoppy. Beer coats the back of the tongue with some nice carbonation. Pretty tasty amber.
