A: Poured from the bomber into a pint glass. Body is black with a half-finger khaki-colored head. Nice drips of lace on the side of the glass.
S: Some juicy hops over some roasted malt. Not too strong, but appropriate for the style.
T: First impression is the mouthfeel, actually - it's a bit thin in heft and that seems to have an effect on the overall impression, including what I'm tasting. .. which seems a bit watery. There's a little bit of roastiness, some charcoal and ash and a decent amount of hop bitterness at the finish.
M: As noted above, thin and somewhat watery.
O: This is okay-to-good. I had a friend's homebrewed Black IPA last night that was better - and it didn't cost me nearly $9 for the bomber. .. . .

22oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a medium off white head that quickly diminishes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.
The aroma is sweet roasted chocolate malts with some piney, resiny hops.
The flavor is roasted bitter chocolate malts with some piney, tarry hops in the finish. There's a good amount of bitterness that lingers in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium boded and watery.
Overall, a pretty good black IPA. Good bitterness, OK flavors, a bit watery.

Minimal head retention after the pour. Dark and nearly impenetrable to light. Light whiff of hops and dark, roasted malt. Could have used more enhanced aroma. Much lighter on the palate and not as bold in flavor as with other dark IPA's I've tried.

Bomber served cool into a globe.
Black in the glass with a creamy head. No retention but some nice lacing.
Aroma is really pretty excellent. There is a great fresh citrus hop character that is better than most traditional IPAs.
Flavor is well done too. Although it's a black IPA, the more familiar taste of a west coast IPA comes through strong. The roasty malts only show themsleves at the end of each sip. More great citrus hop flavor that turns roasted and chocolately.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall a very good example of the style. I look forward to more soon.

On tap at Kickbacks in Jax. Poured into a snifter. Off-white head, moderate retention on a black body. Oily, clear, sticky lacing and some with tiny bubbles. Aroma includes roasted malt, some malt sweetness, some coffee notes and maybe some vanilla wafer, not really getting any hop notes, are they masked/overwhelmed by the other flavors? Taste is very bitter indeed, the hops were obviously hidden by the other flavors. Some coffee and a touch of alcohol and chocolate in the flavor as well but some nice hop bitterness stands out. The flavors work well, not bad at all.

Had this on tap at Twisted Pine's tap room.
All-around, it's not memorable but not bad either.
A - Very Dark brown with a small, quick-disappearing head but
good lacing of an inch or so.
S - Not much jumps out except maybe a little chocolate....
T - Decent flavor with average bitterness (surprising because their
description says the IBU = 80 or so). Nice lingering aftertaste.
Just not real complex.
M - Clean on the tongue and clean finish.
I would not order this again but it's not something I regret having.
(I believe the ABV was 7% but not positive so I have not
included it in the description)
