Appearance: Arrives clear and copper colored; splashy lacing
Smell: A lot of sweetness in the aroma, with caramel and brown sugar tones dominating; spruce discernible, as well
Taste: Caramel and brown sugar forward with the spruce flavors building through the middle; sweet finish with the spruce balancing things out
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation
Overall: It has been two hundred fifty years since spruce was a popular bittering adjunct in the Colonial days; glad to see it every now and again to remember the historical antecedents but I can’t say I much care for it

Bomber. Hazy amber pour, finger off-white head fades to a thin layer leaving soapy lace. Smells like a fruit tree. Taste is powerful, resiny spruce/pine notes with sweet malt undertone. Medium soft mouthfeel. Alcohol very well hidden. This was an interesting brew, liked it tho.

Appeance - The beer was a dark copper color with a white head. Carbonation was visible.
Smell - The nose demonstrated spruce, but with a slightly sweet fruity angle.
Taste - Clearly there is spruce here. Notes if lime, mint, and slight sweet malt are present. The taste seems to get more bitter and resiny in back.
Mouthfeel - The lighter carbonation allows the resin to linger.
Overall - I think this lacks some of the sweetness of Spruce Double IPA. Still, the spruce makes this worth seeking.

Despite how much a regular trading partner of mine loves their beers this is my first time trying one of their IPAs. The bitterness and spruce are both present without being overpowering. I thought I hated spruce after having a spruce beer from Crooked Stave but this is actually really enjoyable. The alcohol is so well hidden I question whether 10.9% is really accurate. I guess I'll have to start drinking some of the BH I buy instead of just sending it all away.

Pours a hazy amber color with off-white head. Spruce, wholly spruce Batman! Lots of spruce on the nose, with just a little citrus; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a sweet spruce note. Too much spruce for me.

One of the best IIPA's that I have ever had! I wish that it was available year round vs being a seasonal (Although, Black Husky's Spruce is also pretty good). Very excited for this up and coming NE Wisconsin brewery.
Edit - on a random note.... this beer has hints of Mountain Dew Baja Blast.... I may come off as an idiot saying that... but does anyone know what I mean?
