Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a goblet. 1 of 1950 bottles.

Appearance: Pours a deep brown with a red hue, and leaves a finger of nice tan head which fizzles away relatively quickly to a layer atop the beer.

Smell: Wow, very interesting. Nice spicy cognac, oak, plenty of dark fruits, figs. Quite complex

Taste: That same spicy cognac again leads way into figs, plums, malts, nuttiness, plus oak. Delicious. Plenty of barrel characteristics in this one. Alcohol is amazingly masked, I wouldn't have guessed it was 12%. Very smooth.

Mouth-feel: Low to medium carbonation - but definitely enough. A medium to heavy, creamy body. Just a tad sticky. Finishes surprisingly smooth.

Overall: Amazing. The cognac barrel did wonders with this beer (which must have been pretty good to begin with, although I've never had it). I didn't know what to expect with this, having never experienced the brewery but I may try some of the other variants, with this one being such a success.

A-Pours dark brown. An aggressive pour leaves a very thin head. Head dies off to a thin outer ring of darker bubbles.

S-A big, dark Belgian brew with a bunch of complex additions. Dark fruits and a with array of sugary malt. The cognac aging is evident in the nose and it brings forth my favorite element of the aroma.

T-The woodiness and hot, cognac sweetness serve as a complement to a very robust, dark, Belgian brew. Dark fruits that have been dried out, burnt caramel, brown sugar, molasses. Belgian yeast and spice. The cognac aging made me enjoy this beer much more than I probably would have without it.

M-Big and almost tannic. Alcohol is masked pretty well for such a high gravity beer. Still a slow drink.

O/D-A unique Belgian. Wouldn't mind seeing more barrel influence from the Belgians. Cognac was a neat choice as well. Complex and robust.
