Poured from 16-oz can into a pint glass.
A - Pours deep black and completely opaque. Has a finger of cinnamon colored head with good retention and impressive lacing.
S - Dark, rich coffee beans are expectedly a big part of the nose of this beer. I also get a hint of sharp, burnt grains and some mild caramel. No hop aroma, but that's not unheard of in many stouts.
T - Strong, french roast coffee up front. Not astringent or overly bitter like I have experienced with some coffee stouts. There is also a good backbone of lighter malt sweetness and an acidic touch toward the middle. Dark, bitter cocoa comes through in the middle and lasts through to the finish. Only critique is that I could go for even a little more coffee (then again, I'm a coffee addict, so it's probably all relative).
M - Medium body with appropriate carbonation (too much and I've noticed coffee stouts become a little sharp). Somewhat dry finish with a pleasant lingering coating of stout flavor after each sip.
Overall - excellent take on a coffee stout. The coffee was expertly integrated into this beer--great, rich aroma; not overly-sharp taste. Easily one of my favorite offerings from Great River so far.

Seems to be infected. Dark fruit, slight tartness, thin, metallic. Plenty of coffee and lactose behind the off flavors. Pours with excessive head. Something decidedly off about it. Not the most brutally infected beer I've ever tried, but far from good.
