went for a pint and a plate with an old friend on aug28 2010.
pretty stoked to get a seat overlooking Banff Ave on a busy summer day, I love a patio overlooking the main drag and with so few of them this was a great place to sit and people watch. I only had the IPA and it was a decent beer but served right too the rim and some of it ended up on my lap as the server tried to get it in front of me. Our server could have paid more attention to us but she was busy talking to the bartender, I got everything I needed but I felt the service was not bad but pretty average. My burger and caesar salad were just plain tasty, my buddy and I who hadn't stopped talking for hours said nothing other Mmmm and ahhh for the few minuets we had food on our plates. one of the better pub burgers I've ever had if the rest of the food's this good they got something going for them. for Banff it's reasonable at 5$ a pint and 13-15$ for a burger you could spend a lot more money on a simple lunch in Banff. I'll be stopping in again to give the other brews a try the next time I'm in Banff.

Banff Ave is a rock solid place to visit when you are in Banff. They have a decent selection of beer. Overall, the quality is quite good, though I prefer the Stout and Black Pilsner over their lighter brews. The menu is interesting and we have always enjoyed our meals. Keep in mind it's Banff, so the prices are pretty steep for what you get. Beer prices are very fair, particularly for the take-home bombers. It's a busy place, but we have never had to wait for a table.

I've been waiting for this place to open for some time, as it would be a welcome addition to the overwhelming bland beer offerings around town. However after my first visit, I'm somewhat let down. Average food, average beer sums it up. I tried 5 of their 7 beer (the IPA and Blond were both out). Overuse of nitrogen in their cream ale and stout, the Black Pilsner, while hardly a dark beer, and missing some key Schwartz notes ended up being the best of the 5. I'll give it another go to try their IPA, and Blond - they'll periodically get my business if they can have at least one decent beer on hand. If not you'd be better served to go to the Bison Cafe; drink Wild Rose on tap, and have food that's hands above the Brewing Company's
