Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.
Fizzy. Lots of fizzy carbonation off the pour, barely manages a finger of tan to almost dark mocha head, an dissolves to barely a discernable collar. Body color is a simple dark walnut brown, but head formation points to disappointment. Looks slightly dead on arrival.
A half decent nose, hints of peanut butter and roasted malt with a bit of mild sweet character. A bit of seltzery and soda cola like aromas though but not too bad. A fairly pleasant aroma overall.
Palate just doesn't get it done. Lifeless body, fizzy and warm. Hints of mild chocolate and some character of beer density, even a bit of licorice in the mid palate. However there is no depth, lasting flavor, and just a soda like quality that just shows this isn't ready for prime time.
Overall, it's cola roast in a glass, drinkable you don't have to choke it down, but why would you. This needs much work.

A- Pitch black pour with a thin, foamy tan head.
S- Roasted malts, dark bitter chocolate, chocolate malts, flaked oats, vanilla.
T- Flavor does not quite match the aroma. Standard stout flavor of roasted malt with a dash of chocolate in the middle and a bitter vanilla finish. Flavors don't really mesh that well together.
M- Medium bodied, but somewhat thinner than standard stouts. Carbonation is on par.
O- Not a bad beer, but could use more balance.
