1775th Review on BA
Draft to Pint
Served At McCormick and Schmicks (Portland, OR)
App- A nice deeper hued copper with some gold highlights throughout. A smaller 1/4" white head that faded quickly. I am attributing this to the bartender who gave me more beer. A decent amount of cling as it made a nice web wall.
Smell- This was a nice smelling IPA. A bit cold so the aromas were a bit muted, but when it warmed the bursting hops came out. A solid bit of dry came out and was a bit spicy on the aroma.
Taste- This to me was a very nice IPA. Wasnt over the top. Great balance without being a punch in the face. The hops were a bit spicy and had a slight bit of fruit behind it. A sipper for sure due to the ABV but nothing over the top with bitterness either.
Mouth- A solid medium bodied IPA with a creamy feel behind it. The sweet spot for IPAs and myself in the ABV range creates this creamy feel I enjoy.
Drink- I walked over the damn town trying to find this and I am glad I did. Was a very good beer.

Poured from a 16oz swingtop "growler"
Appearance - A crystal clear golden orange with very little in the way of head, leaves broken waves of suds across the surface with small spots of lace all around the glass.
Smell - Orange rind with light grapefruit. Faint pine.
Taste - Follows the nose. Bright, clean citrus notes of orange and grapefruit, supported by lesser notes of rind bitterness and a touch of stone fruit pit. Light juiciness. Great balance all-around. Clean finish.
Mouthfeel - Unfortunately, I think the beer has gone flat. Medium bodied with almost no carbonation. Smooth for what it is, but it's dead as dead gets. Still drinkable though, thanks to the flavor. Fairly dry finish.
Overall - I may be doing this beer a great injustice by writing this review from a 16oz sample that seems to have gone flat, but I don't know if I'll ever get my hands on it again, so I'll leave this review as a placeholder and a reminder to try to get this baby on tap. Definite candidate for a re-review. As is, flavor reminds me a bit of Pliny or Blind Pig, or maybe even the Lagunitas IPA.
