Had this along with some other IPAs in a sampler at the Taphouse Grill in Seattle. 6oz pour. This is a seriously underrated IPA. The smell and taste are fantastic. It's not too strong and it's very citrusy/fruity. I remember thinking it tasted like candy. It was just soo tasty. If you can find it try it, you won't be disappointed.

A: Poured a deeper but glowing orange color with good carbonation and a nice white cap

S: Big pine and citrus.

T: As it was on draft. Outstanding. Perhaps the best IPA I have ever had. Loads of pine and citrus, a tad acidic, caramel, a bit oily but yet tasty and still crisp. The hops are fresh and tasty. Just amazingly good.

M: Medium body, well carbonated and loads of taste.

O: Best of the best.

On tap at Latona Pub in Seattle, WA. 8/5/2011.

A: The beer poured a hazy copper color with a thin head of fluffy white foam. There was very little lacing which dissipated quickly. By the time I was done with my beer, the glass was devoid of any sticky residue.

S: This gave off a very rich citrus aroma reminiscent of grapefruit, orange and tropical fruits with just a touch of the strong pine/cat urine scent found in top tier IPAs. There was a hint of sweet bready malt, but the hops are dominant here.

T: There was a sweet malt profile here, but balanced well with the sucker punch of big hops. Grapefruit is the main hop flavor, but there are also touches of pine, honey and grass. The beer has a bit of alcohol warmness to it at the end, but it's very pleasant and comforting.

M: Very dry mouth feel with medium body and average level carbonation.

O: WOW. This is a regular IPA? Are you sure I wasn't given an Imperial? In any event, RPM is an extremely impressive beer. I'd heard about Boneyard previously, but was very excited to find this on tap at my neighborhood pub tonight. This was one of the best IPAs I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. Seek it out. Now.

Served on tap into a becker glass at Pegasus Pizza

A- Poured a mostly clear amber orange color with streaming carbonation, small head that left no lace

S- Huge astringent hop aroma, huge dank, grapefruit, pine, and tropical fruit aromas. Some sweet caramel notes too. Very aromatic and super hop bomb aroma. This is what an IPA should smell like

T- Big astringent IPA with huge dank, grapefruit, and pine flavors. Some caramel flavor is present. Very good amount of bitterness. This is a great IPA

M- Very dry, prickly carbonation, medium body

O- This is an outstanding IPA, in the same league as Head Hunter and West Coast IPA

Got this on draft in the corner of portland while on vacation.

Smells of fruity hops and citrus and IPA happiness.

Tastes slightly sticky, wonderful display of hoppiness that lingers for a bit.

Honestly, reminiscent of certain higher rated IPAs and certainly needs more credibility than others.

horse brass draft, took a little bush-dive shortly after, then a pleasant walk back downtown

a: served in a full shaker pint, glowing orange in color with a dense white head, great retention and chunky lace sticking to the glass walls

s: pungent, vivid hop nose out front, intensely tropical with pineapple and mango, pulpy orange, and resinous pine, sweet and sticky hop juice, a dose of sugary pale and caramel malts, yeah

m: medium bodied, carbonation around moderate or just under, pleasant

t: sweet, sweet, juicy hops brimming with luscious fruits - pineapple, mango, tangerine, grapefruit; a dash of pine resin underneath, oily and pungent, incredibly hoppy but averting any overbittered sensation, smooth and delicious, bready, slightly sweet pale malts with a slight dose of caramel

o: of ipa’s consumed in my semi-recent memory bank, this one stands out as the best of the best, great stuff

On-tap served in pint glass at Brickhouse in Vancouver, WA.

appearance - orange, good transparency, excellent foamy head and retention

smell - aroma is dank, fresh grapefruit/pine hops

taste - bold and flavorful hops, very dank, pine/grapefruit/resinous profile with just the right malt body that does not dominate or overwhelm, a showcase for the hops

mouthfeel - well carbonated but not overkill, medium body

overall - i keep coming back to this beer because it is brewed incredibly well. what an ipa should be.

A: Pours nice caramel orange color. Thin, heavy lacing with a nice head.

S: Upfront zesty citrus with a subtle floral notes.

T: Fantastic bubble gum, caramel, and fruit. Perfectly balanced flavor with no dominant characteristic

M: Smooth with moderate carbonation. Doesn't pull back and allows the finish to resonate

O: Maybe my favorite go-to, readily available IPA. Pliny and Pig are great, but this is in the same league without the hype

Picked up a growler in Tacoma, Wa after sampling.

I hadn't heard of this beer or brewery but was pleasantly surprised after tasting. This beer pours a clean amber-orange with a nice thin head. Smell is loaded with citrus, grapefruit and pineapple along with a hint of floral. Taste follows the smell. Hop forward with the tropical fruits throughout. Great balance and carbonation. Very smooth and drinkable with alcohol well hidden. Overall one of the better IPA's I have tried in a while. I love the hop profile and am looking forward to trying Boneyard's double and triple IPA's!

On-tap at Liquid Assets in Ashland, Oregon. Been wanting to try a Boneyard IPA for a while. Enjoyed 8 July 2012, reviewed from notes.

Pours a pale but luscious rich yellow, a chewy color, slightly hazy. Brought to me with one finger of whitish head, which recedes slowly, leaving lovely little crescents of lacing on the glass.

Smell is completely dominated by hops. They come on strong with citrus first, gobs of grapefruit. Then sticky pine resin, more pine.

This may be the best-tasting single IPA I've ever had. The thing that most impresses me is how the hops come through in the flavor, powerfully so, but without causing a total ruckus. Sticky pine, deliciously playing with the mid-level bitterness. I often talk about the "positive" hop flavors, which to me means everything beyond the bitter. This beer brings out those characteristics so well, it just makes me wonder how they pulled it off. Solid malt base, mildly sweet, providing perfect support. Dang.

Medium-bodied, nicely sticky, and plenty of carbonation.

A really really tasty IPA. I'm impressed, and hoping to get to try more of their beers in the near future.

On tap at Belmont Station on 12.27.2011.

A - Served a slightly cloudy orange with a large tan-yellow head. The head is large and foamy with good retention and it leaves lacing on the glass.

S - Very hoppy and piney. Lots of oranges and Pineapple. Smells great.

T - The taste is right there with the smell. Lots of very citrusy and sweet tones. Pineapple, oranges, and lemons.

D - Great body and carbonation. Not bitter. Perfect body.

O - A very nice tropical, citrusy IPA. Try it if you can.

This is a fantastic beer. I've had it several times, always on tap. Most recently, I had it during dinner at a well-known Portland restaurant.

The color is terrific. The aroma blew me away. RPM has a highly citrus character, instantly evident. Notes of pine, grapefruit, pineapple. This is the first measure of a great IPA and this beer does not disappoint.

In the mouth, RPM presents a complex balance of malt and hops. It's fairly bitter, but not overwhelmingly so. The 7.5 ABV is in the background until the beer warms up. Then you taste it.

Overall, this is an outstanding IPA. It jumped to the top of my IPA list after the second tasting. Pursue RPM with a passion.

Holy hell. I found this at Taphouse Grill (downtown Seattle). I've always wanted to try this, but I didn't want to drive all the way down to Federal (99 Bottles) to get it.

Anyway,

It's awesome. I didn't take any notes (I wasn't expecting to review any beers today), but it was amazing. Very very well balances - it was hoppy but also very malty. Sweetness balances out the bitterness. Citrus hops at the beginning, finshes with sweet malt, and a bit of hop bitterness at the end.

This is awesome. hope they start bottling.

Growler just picked up from Main Brew, poured into a 1/2 liter stein, RPM is pale orange with an off-white head, big, fluffy and tight, leaving heavy lace.

Smell is massively hoppy. Loads of resin and citrus, orange marmalade, a touch sweet.

Taste is also a hop bomb, but still rather smooth and only moderately bitter. Some sweetness in fact. Heavily on the citrus than the pine, with no malt to speak of behind all of the hops. Fantastic, if a bit one-dimensional.

Mouthfeel is dry, light bodied.

Drinkability is high for me, absolutely my style of IPA. A go-to IPA and benchmark for the PNW style. Just a touch too sweet.

Growler poured into a Hill Farmstead stem.

Pour: Hazy, deep orange with two fingers of creamy white head. Lots of sticky lacing, and the head hangs around for the majority of the glass.

Smell: Big, bright tropical fruits up front. Grapefruit, tangelo, mango. Some pine. A light brown bread dough.

Taste: More aggressively tropical than the nose, which is a great thing. Lots of tangerine, melon, and grapefruit. Some pine, but not a lot. A touch of white pepper. More of the same brown bread doughiness. Finishes juicy with citrus and lightly bitter

Mouthfeel: Juicy and refreshing. Medium bodied. Minimal bitterness.

Overall: Really impressive IPA from Boneyard. I like this a lot!

A

Nice smooth IPA reminiscent of its big brother Hop Venom. Nice alternative when you can’t get your fingers around some Venom.

Look – Dark golden amber, clear with a slight haze, very pleasant.

Smell – Piney hops.

Taste – Yes, it had loads of it. Smooth and very pleasant.

Feel – Nice and crisp, very pleasing.

Overall – Delicious

This IPA was amazing! It had alot of simcoe in the aroma and taste. It had a lot of mandarin, Ginger, apricot, and some resiny pine in the taste. This beer was quite amazing, it has a lot of characteristics I would like to emulate. I expect great things from Boneyard.

Poured a subdued orange-amber into a tulip with a finger of off-white head. Huge, bright aroma of grapefruit and tangerine with a touch of caramel.

Moderate carbonation and a full, creamy mouthfeel. Grapefruit, tangerine, and pineapple up front mixed with caramel and a lingering pine finish with a touch of honey sweetness.

Really huge flavors but manages to stay balanced. The higher ABV seems completely hidden. Tasty, refreshing, and super easy-drinking. This one is up there with the best IPAs I've had.

Thanks to the excellent pwnzilla for a growler of this West Coast treat. Popped open & shared in line for the Steel Toe 'Before the Dawn' release.

The pour leans towards freshly-panned gold with plenty of carbonation, which is appreciated after this growler traveled a thousand miles or so. The smell: oh my goodness gracious plant me in a marsh & grow me, oh, the smell. IPAs simply don't smell any better than this: massive amounts of citrus & grapefruit caress the inner nose. Wood ensues. A perfect start.

RPM IPA is one of the best of the style that I've never heard of, & I can only attribute that to being tap-only. Follows the nose to a T, big grapefruit, citrus notes with a back-splash of bitterness that neither over- no underwhelms the flavors. Exceedingly clean & sharp. I wondered if the entire growler would be consumed by those in line: that turned out to be no problem at all. Once people started talking about it, everyone I knew (& there were plenty) arrived for a taste. I asserted Presidential Authority & nabbed a second glass before it vanished. I could have had more. Much more.

This is a simple, clean, straight-up excellent IPA. Delighted to have tried it & hope I can get a whiff of other Boneyard offerings someday.

Big thanks to ramnuts for trucking a growler of this back from Bend. I really need to get out there for a weekend sometime soon. I went over to his house, he thrust a half filled pint glass of this into my hand, I sniffed, quickly paid attention, tasted, and bellowed "this shit is great, what is it?!"

A: Cloudy and obviously unfiltered gold with a big dusty white head full of lazy soapy bubbles. Great lacing. 4.5/5

S: A punch of citrus to the chin! Clementine’s and pineapple are the primary sweet aromas. 4.5/5

T: Those citrus aromas translate to the taste and are supported by a well developed malt profile that doesn't get in the way of the hop goodness. This showcases the hops in a way that allows the fruitier bouquet to be appreciated without being bitter for the sake of being bitter. I'm finding this style of IPA to be more in my wheelhouse these days. 4.5/5

M: Very full body with a snappy finish. 4.5/5

O: My notes for this beer were extremely limited and I assigned the 4.5 as an overall from the get go. I immediately followed this up with a Lucky Lab Super Dog which paled in comparison at every turn. It's possible that when I get a chance to closer examine this beer in the future, my score may increase. In the land of hoppy beers (PNW), this is a standout. 4.5/5

A: Pours a hazy orange with a small slightly off-white head on top. Good retention, leaving a nice cap on top. Thin lacing down the sides of the glass.

S: Nice and citrusy, some tropical fruit including grapefruit, orange, and some lemon. A bit of grainy malt and caramel on the back end.

T: Similar to the aroma, a nice and citrusy flavor, grapefruit and more orange with pine mixed in. Has a nice bitterness on the finish, but not overly so. Very smooth.

M: Medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Easy drinking.

Great look, clear golden, OK head retention but plenty of lace. Big grapefruit aroma. Flavor is similar with a bit of pine on the finish. Decent balance, a bit of alcohol in the middle to finish, though. Medium to high carbonation and medium body. This would make a great every day IPA for a West Coast IPA fans.
