Pours brown with a mahogany hue and an off white head. Aroma is rich and sweet with some earthiness, almost as though they are using the same yeast for this as they do their Fearless Youth dunkel; toffee, honey, pitted fruit, chocolate, earthy, and a touch of some vanilla from the oak. Flavor follows suit but with a kiss of some slight bitter hops in the finish. Crisp, lighter medium bodied and active mouthfeel. Overall, a great brown ale from Grimm Brothers here.

On draft at the old taproom, back in early September. If you're curious, this is an alt-style brew that was aged for about 6 months in Buffalo Trace barrels.

Appearance is a brownish-gold amber, one-finger white head.

Smell is predominantly of vanilla, some malt sweetness suggesting dark fruits, with present oak yet very mild bourbon char notes.

Taste is of slight roasted malt, cereal grains, dark fruits, big vanilla/oak mid-palate, finishing with oak and ever so slightly with bourbon char.

Mouthfeel is pure cream. Give it some rounds in your mouth, and it will hold up. Medium in thickness and carbonation, this one drinks too easily.

Overall I think this is an awesome beer. It's low abv for being a barrel-aged beer, which seems to make for a more drinkable and flavorful beer. You could easily mistake this beer for being a really drinkable high abv beer because of how much flavor it packs in. I hope they brew it again.
