Aged this for approximately 2 years.
Appearance-This beer pours beautifully thick, like a nice sludgy oil. It is extremely dark and has a nice brownish foam that rests nicely upon the beer.
Smell-The scent has a delicious roasty characteristic. It has a nice, but mild note of dark chocolate. It is not an overwhelming smell at this age.
Taste-The chocolate is the first to hit the tongue. It has a real pleasant dark chocolate flavor immediately. This is followed by a subtle smoky flavor, which is then nicely rounded by deep roasted malty goodness. The bourbon is nicely well balanced and is pleasantly present throughout. I personally would like a stronger bourbon flavor, but the balance won me over as the bottle warmed.
Mouthfeel-It is very thick and almost chewy, which is perfect for what I enjoy in an imperial stout. The alcohol is very apparent, but warms the mouth and reminds me of long winter nights made wonderful by a delicious dark deer. There is also a nice and subtle creaminess.
Overall-I loved it and wished I had saved more bottles to share!
Grimm Brothers continues to impress me!

Poured into Kuhnhenn tulip
Pour: Ever so thick as it chugged out of the bottle and extremely as black as black can be. Absolutely no light penetration on this beer. Pour did not produce a head for me but some agitation in the glass created an awesome dark, dark brown finger sized head settling to a fairly thick ring. This is the darkest head on a beer I have ever seen and looks great. Alcohol legs very evident and to be expected at 12% ABV.
Smell: This is an absolutely powerful smelling beer that I could smell as soon as I opened it and in the glass from a decent distance away. Superb notes of the barrel on this one with its huge bourbon presence. This aspect is in your face and very inviting to me. There is vanilla and the oak from the barrel and a nice big chocolate brownie smell. The roast is big on this beer and a mild but way in the back slight coffee.
Taste: Bourbon notes at first with equal notes of roast. Some smoke and char but complimentary. Great vanilla notes oak and some faint bittersweet chocolate mixed in. Alcohol is noticeable but not distracting to me in the least as it creates a nice warming sensation. Has a bit of a bitter finish and the bourbon continues all the way through to the finish. Nice!
Mouthfeel: Big thick, chewy and filling. Silky smooth on the tongue and not hot at all. This stays around in the mouth well after the swallow, coating the lips and tongue.
Overall: Not sure what I expected but I really am enjoying this beer. A perfect balance of the bourbon, barrel, vanilla, roast...just a massive complex multi layered beer that continued to open up as it warmed.
