The taster doesn't do it justice, especially because there is a lot going on in the taster prior to getting to the stouts. Ordered a pint and half way through realized it was very good and had a lot more complexity than I had originally given it credit for.
Dug into this beer on a warm spring day, which should have put me off a bit, but didn't. Very rich with a good balance. The sweetness hits you pretty early, and the dry roasty finish rounds everything off.

Served on draught into a pilsner glass at Oskar Blues Liquids and Solids in June 2012. Reviewed from notes. Expectations were average; I believe this was one of my first beers from strange. They called it "Paint It Black Honey Coffee Stout" on their menu.
A: Pours a slightly creamy floater head of decent thickness and zero retention. Colour is a nontransparent solid black. This isn't looking too good at all.
Sm: Honey, terrible stale coffee, unsweetened raw chocolate, and must. A mild to moderate strength aroma. Not at all appealing.
T: Stale coffee, unsweetened chocolate, bland pepper, stale dark malts, and a wretched medicinal note. Horrid. Balance is awful. Horribly built. Egregious. Not at all subtle or complex. No roasted barley comes through at all. No yeast.
Mf: Stale, smooth, and wet. Wretched and terrible - especially for a stout. Carbonation is off. Doesn't suit the flavours really at all. Awfully executed.
Dr: Not at all drinkable; I struggled to finish the glass. Really a shittastic brew. I'd never have this again. Turns me off to the brewery entirely. I hope to God all their beers aren't this bad.

On nitro at the tasting room. Poured a jet black color with a nice creamy head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, sweet malt, and more coffee. Taste was definitely coffee up front, dark chocolate, toasted malt, and just the right amount of hop bitterness to finish. This was my favorite of the three I tried from Strange; I will most definitely be back.

I had this one on tap at Strange Brewing this afternoon. Poured a rich black color with a dense, creamy tan head. Aromas of freshly roasted coffee, roasted malt and dark chocolate. On the palate, this one was creamy and medium bodied, with lots of freshly roasted coffee, chocolate and roasted malt.

did nobody taste chilli peppers in this beer? i did! pours a dark brown color with a faint red glow, nitro head tan in color. smells like burnt smokey chocolate malt and anaheim or a similar pepper, maybe a poblano. flavor has no pepper heat on top of a rich malty body, but it does have that distinctive essence of pepper. it took me a few sips to get that, but it is certainly there. mouthfeel is good not great, a little thin for a stout despinte the creamy nitro dispense. overall a very drinkable stout, and a very drinkable chilli beer. no complaints
