On tap at the Draught House in Austin.

The beer pours an amber color with a white head. The aroma is pretty straight forward with a lot of caramel malt. The flavor is a mix of caramel and toffee malt. I also get some chocolate, earthy and grassy hops and some iced tea notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Served on tap at Opal Divine's Marina in Austin, TX

A: Pours a crystal clear medium amber in color with light amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a finger tall light beige head that quickly reduces to a very thin film covering about half of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light aromas of sweet caramel and toffee malts and just the faintest hint of grassy hops.

T: The flavor of this beer is almost all sweet malts with both caramel and toffee notes. There is a light amount of grassy hops in the finish that lends a light amount of lingering bitterness.

M: Just heavier than light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp but slightly thin/watery.

O: Easy to drink and could be sessionable as I could easily put a couple of these back. Nothing special but definitely an enjoyable everyday kind of beer.

growler courtesy of fthomasl, thanks dawg! Pours a lightly hazed amber color with a small tan head that leaves some spotty lace.

Nose is surprisingly nice, caramel and toffee with a few dallops of sugar. Malts are nice, bold and varied. Nice hop aroma too, bright and tropical.

Taste is pretty big, lots of hop flavor and tons of bitterness. Lingers on and on... Malts are no slouch either. Loads of sweet toffee and burnt toast. Not bad, but a little homebrewey. Not much depth and the flavors dont meld together all that well. Its almost a bit too much going on here, the beer could be simplified dramatically.

A fairly clear copper brown colored brew with a solid off-white head and
great lacing. The aroma is a very subtle grainy malt, not much else. However,
the flavor jumps out with a healthy evergreen hop blended with deep molasses
malt. There's some grass bite with a neat chocolate idea floating around. I
might add a little rye grain as well. Really pretty enjoyable with a medium body
that delivers a very fine, pretty mild carbonation and a slight resin to a
smooth, easy drinking brew. Not bad.

On-tap at the Draught House, Austin.

Looks like the carbonation issues surrounding the first batch of Thirsty Planet's Buckethead have been remedied, as 'the Goat' sports a healthy cap of newspaper-white foam. Good retention, too, although there isn't much lacing to be seen. Color is typical for the style, with a glowing, copper-amber body and appropriate clarity. Sweet toffee and caramel malts dominate the aroma. Yeasts smell buttery and fruity with a hint of shoe polish (in a good way, like Fuller's ESB).

Hops hit the tongue first with sharp, grassy notes. A citric, bitter hop bite lingers into the finish. Amber malts are slightly sweet and supply a superb balance of English toffee and caramel. Yeast contributes a light presence of tropical fruitiness. Everything seems to be working well together with Thirsty Goat, and the mouthfeel is similarly on-point. Crisp, well-carbonated, and slightly creamy on the back of the palate, but bitter and lively at the same time. All in all, a solid, refreshing Amber from the burgeoning Thirsty Planet brewers. Baaa!

This is the Thirsty Planet’s Amber that’s been wood aged and dry hopped. It looks a pale yellow-orange color with a lot of foam that lets off a big grassy hop aroma. Grassy hops dominate the flavor as well, in a way that I completely forgot about this being an amber originally. I don’t pick up a distinctive malty sweetness but the beer does have an exceptionally well-rounded finish. Simply wonderful. It’s like a completely different beer and one I would gladly welcome seeing again.
