Clear dark amber colored ale with a small tan colored head.

Smells fruity and malty with a nice caramel scent.

Starts out mildly sweet with a moderate bitterness and a long caramel finish. Not real complex just your basic generic Altbier taste.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Overall generic Altbier.

Picked up a sixer at Winco because it was cheaper than anywhere else, and I knew I needed something mild (read: not hoppy or strong) for certain guests for an upcoming party.

Pours a dark amber color, thin off white head, about 2/5" in depth. Aroma was barely anything, some smooth Oktoberfest like malt aromas.

Taste has a little more bitterness of a not necessarily hop derived origin. A little bit metallic/coppery, not as smooth as hoped for style, but the heft and mouthfeel is about right otherwise. Its a strangely viscous beer for being under 5% alcohol.

I think its possible that this beer could cut into the Fat Tire market, I think its aimed at that segment of people looking for something a little more substantial than BMC, but aren't necessarily into the hop or dark beer thing.

Pours a thin head on a dark straw colored body.
The aroma is musty grain, in the alt style.
The taste has a grain flavor to it, but is overall watery.
The texture is thin with moderate carbonation.
It lacked real flavor. Boost that up a little and this wouldn't be too bad.

Bottle poured into a BarrelHouse Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours rich copper amber with very minimal off white head.

S: Roasted malt, dark fruit, a bit earthy.

T: Tart cherry up front, a little light coffee, and a very light hit of roasted malt. Surprisingly simple (not in a good way).

M: Light to medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: While it is light and drinkable and not really offensive in any way, it is quite far from the "bold, complex flavor" mentioned on the label. I'm quite disappointed by this one.

Bomber into a snifter.

A: Brownish orange with a fizzy white head. Scattered lacing.

S: Lightly tart grape and plum with a bready malt base. Light biscuit presence with some earth. Perfumy floral notes are evident.

T: Light lactic sourness up front with a bit of tartness. Grainy, bready, and biscuity. There's a drying grape finish.

M: Upper light body with high carbonation. The mouthfeel is prickly, dry, and sticky.

Overall: I doubt this is supposed to be sour but it's kind of nice in any case. Reminds me of a Berliner Weiss.

Poured a dark caramel, brown color with 1-to-2 fingers of khaki-white head. Light bubble streams coming up at spots. Spotty sporadic lacing on the sides of the glass. Average retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 3.75)

Smelled pretty plain initially. Got German noble pilsner hops, not as good as a recent Stone beer I had with similar German noble hops. Light caramel, roasty nuts and toffee. (Smell - 3.25)

Taste was much better than the nose, albeit less German pilsner hops and more roastiness. Also got caramel, roasted toffee, Octoberfest elements, plum, roasty nuts and bready malts. (Taste - 3.50)

Medium body. Thin texture. Lively-to-fizzy carbonation. Abrupt finish. (Feel - 3.38)

Just an average beer overall, not a great start or pick by me for Great Basin. Seemed to be a bit too cold for the style as well. (Overall - 3.38)

Very interesting brew from Great Basin. Smell is a little grainy and a little perfumey. Taste starts with a tart apricot and ends with a sort of adjunct taste that lingers on in the back of your mouth. In between is a mini maelstrom of tastes. It's hard to be sure what's happening. Very complex, not for everyone, but a bold choice to be in their flagship lineup.
