Incorporating eight different malts, this high-quality stout offers a sweet, roasty flavor profile with hints of chocolate and coffee, a superior English hop accent and a super smooth texture.

Deep black beer, over and inch of head, red and brown head. The lace was remarkably uniform down the glass. Aroma was heavy bitter dark fruit and roast.

Taste was on the high end sweetness, which was welcome. Got away from the usual bitterness in a traditional RIS. If you don't like sweet RIS, this might be one to stay away from, i thought it helped out with hiding the high abv and drinkability, so I'm a fan.

Really nice black pour, 1.5" head on it, not quite cherry cola redness, but its approaching that, a hearty tan if you will, with substantial lace effect. Aroma, hmm, slightly chocolatey, but none of the alleged coffee that I read about in the description at the restaurant/brewery.

Immediate massive sugar rush, man, this is the sweetest ris I've had in a long time, is so sweet it can be mentioned in the same breath as Southern Tier's Creme Brulee, although this beer is far from being that good. It does an amazing job in the mouthfeel though, as the sugary sweetness does hide the alcohol in a wonderful way. 8 different malts I guess.

Last year, when I stopped in for a pint and dinner after skiing, they had no stouts on tap. So this was a big upgrade this year. This beer is probably a little bit polarizing. If you prefer your ris a little more dry, more dark fruit sweet as opposed to just straight pixie stick sweet, you'll be disappointed. If you can dig on something like creme brulee (another extremely polarizing beer) you might like this, just don't think you're going to get something that good. I can say this beer is phenomenal at hiding the alcohol and being relatively easy to drink.

EDIT: Subsequent batches have not been as sweet. But still good.
