Picked this up in Florida back in November when I was in the Jacksonville area, as I love beers of this style and hadn't had anything from Engine 15 either. This was a textbook example of the style that wouldn't win anyone over to it but served as a decent take on what a German Hefeweizen should be. For me, it was something to relax to, even on a cold night such as this!
Of course, the pour to this was golden, cloudy, and somewhat muddled with a bit of light seeping in around the edges of the liquid. Plenty of bubbly head topped this off but that quickly (and somewhat loudly) settled down to something more typical for this style. The lacing was just a thin half-collar around the top with scattered bits of it around the rest of my pint glass. Plenty of banana, clove, solvent, and grain filled the nose as the aroma of this gave the impression that it was much stronger than it was in actuality. Lemon, spice, and grains of paradise filled my mouth as this almost felt like something on the level of Samuel Adams, both in terms of taste and consistency. Mild citrus juice and some puckering tartness grabbed hold of me as this could have used a bit more wheat and brighter flavors to liven it up.
Of course, this was a true session beer and it would have been easy to down another in a sitting, had I not been cleaning out my stash on this cold night. While not a bad beer, this could have been so much more. It didn't measure up to German counterparts or even better examples from here in the states but given that this was brewed in Florida, it suited that part of the country quite well. Glad to see the area code as part of this beer's moniker but besides that, this didn't have much else going for it...

Tried this on tap at Jones B-side
Nice cloudy golden color, little aroma & mild taste - unremarkable
With so many other good alternatives available, this Hefeweizen comes up short.

I had this on tap at Moxie in the Town Center Mall. Glad to see they offer about 8 local beers on tap.
It was served in a large tulip glass. The beer is a hazy yellow with an off-white skim off foam. Big clove and spice nose.
Lots of clove and banana esters. It is spicy with a bit of grains. I would personally like to see the spice dialed down a notch as the beer is in danger of being a one trick pony.
Mouth is excellent with a bit of heft and it is crisp.
Not my favorite offering from a great local brewery, but it is worth seeking out to have a few.
