Pours a pale straw colour, big bubbles around the glass. Quite cloudy in the body, with off-white sparse head. Kind of soft-drink-esque, but not bad.

Smells spicy and phenolic, with fruity touches as well. Cinnamon, a touch of clove, nutmeg and of course banana. Classic hefe characters, riddled with spice. Good.

Lots of dry spice on the palate as well. Pepper, nutmeg and clove vie for supremacy while underlying it is that nice banana ester. Great ester creation and a dry, soda kind of texture. Pleasant and drinkable as anything.

Again, the fizz lends it the similitude of soft drink, but it kind of works with the flavour.

Maybe could use a bit more fruit to really lighten it up. But a drinkable and very pleasant hefe.

On-tap at the Local Taphouse in Sydney during the Italian SpecTapular.

Very pale yellow colour with very solid hazing. Head is white and light, but pretty bubbly and inconsistent, not at all what you expect from a hefeweizen. Not bad all up, but a bit dull.

Mild sweet banana characters on the nose give a confectionery tone. A hint of spice comes through, giving almost an aroma of incense, along with some huskier grain characters. It's all a bit weaker than I'd want, but some of the characters are pretty pleasant.

Light mild banana on the front palate, before some carbonic acidity comes through rather sharply, pretty much savaging the more delicate estery characters. This is matched on the back by an odd green, leafy character which really cuts back on the smoothness. Feel is both too light and too crisp for the style, and exposes the extended carbonation again.

Overall? Pretty pedestrian attempt at a Hef. I want more from the style, and this one is a bland effort at best.
