Grainy maltiness with aromas of figs and lemon grass from the use of traditional English yeast and hops. This beer has earthy flavors which are rounded out nicely by a smooth bitter finish.

Served in a pint glass at Cavalry Brewing Co. in Oxford, Conn.

A: Deep copper, amber color with a two-finger head of creamy, off-white foam which leaves behind a little lace and retains quite well. Nice clarity and modest carbonation.

S: Nice, balanced aroma of bready, medium-roasted malts and herbal, earthy hop scents.

T: Toasted, dark biscuit and caramel sweetness up front with a slightly creamy, roasted black malt flavor thrown in the mix. Challenger hops shine through on the back of the palate before washing down with residual sweetness and a bit of lingering, grassy and pine hop bitterness.

M: Medium-full bodied IPA with exceptional balance. Carbonation is even-keeled, if perhaps a bit too high on this taste. Will have to compare to bottle or draft elsewhere.

O: Hell of an English IPA which teases a ton of flavor out of relatively low ABV. Marauder has a great feel and sturdiness of flavor; very mineral and heavy handed with hops in comparison to other Cavalry brews. Outside of Brooklyn East IPA and BBC Lost Sailor, dare I say this is one of the best east-coast, New England IPAs I've had? Well done.

Appearance: 2 inch head, high carbonation, orange-brown in color, cloudy

Smell: caramel, toffee, and slight citrus hops

Taste: caramel, toffee, and slight citrus hops with slight chocolate

Mouthfeel: sweetish start with big time hops coming in the middle that create bitterness that lasts throughout, dry aftertaste, moderate-high carbonation, medium bodied

Overall: A nice and bitter—almost dry hopped tasting ipa. I will get this again, but due to how dry it is, one is good enough in a sitting. Nice beer for hopheads that do not mind a bit of sweetness.

I got this bottle on a whim while visiting Conn.

Appearance- This was the best part of the beer. It looked great. Darker than I expected, a brown or dark amber. Head formed well but dissipated quickly.

Smell- Surprisingly, the hops came up to meet my nose while pouring before I even went down to smell it. Though once I got down there it was very mild, Slight hint of nut, hardly any hopiness. I was confused it says IPA but it smells like a regular ale.

Taste- This was the second most disappointing part. If you call your beer an IPA it better be able to sail to India and make it. This was weak. No impressive hop kick, hardly any hop notes at all. It was malty but it was mild. Something was wrong with this beer. It is bottle conditioned because I had yeast traces at the end but it hardly had any dirty taste to it. It was plain, most certainly not an IPA and I was so disappointed.

Mouthfeel- Low carbonation, no bite, water consistency. It had a delayed malt earthyness to it but nothing worth writing about.

Overall- I have never heard of this company and I just wanted to try something new. I am very easy going when it comes to beer. Just give me some hop kick with a little bit of malt and carbonation and I am a happy guy. Your beer can suck but if you can drown it with hops I'll take it. This was not the case. this is not an IPA and I would not recommend it to anyone. I am very sorry Cavalry but this is not a success.

A: Pours a coppery brown with explosive carbonation that caused my glass to overflow twice. It eventually recedes into a thin cap with a lot of lacing.

S: Caramel malts up front with sweet citrus notes along with a hint of candy sugar as well. There are grass and pine aromas toward the finish.

T: Slight caramel malts at first with dryly bitter grass and pine hop flavors. The finish is clean and only slightly bitter.

M: Medium body with highish carbonation, this beer is dry and crisp feeling.

O: A pretty decent IPA overall. Not terribly complex, but enjoyable and drinkable.

L: Pours a clear dark amber color with a thick and medium sized off white colored head that laces the glass all the way down as it fades.
S: Smells of sweet roasted malts, hints of caramel and then a nice earthy and citrus hop finish in the nose.
T: Tastes of darker and deeper roasted malts than I was expecting, nice caramel and sweetness to it, then a nice less intense earthy and citrus hoppy finish with some pine as well.
M: Smooth, medium bodied, perfect amount of carbonation.
D: Overall a pretty decent take on the style as it has a darker and sweeter malt base than most.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep golden brown color, with a very large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick on the glass.

S: The aroma contains caramelized malts, a good amount of hops and some citrus.

T: The taste starts out with a lot of breadiness from a hearty malt character along with a touch of smokiness in the background. Then some mild sweetness comes in from flavors of caramel and citrus. The hops presence is a bit mild for the style but creates a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly bready.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

D: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, it’s a solid beer but there are several others in the style that I would pick first.

I picked up a 6 pack for the weekend because I've never seen it stocked in the store I regular before.

It was on the darker side, looking more like a lager than anything. It had about a finger of head with a pretty aggressive pour, and it stayed around for a minute or two. The smell was the best part of the beer, it had decent floral aromas. I wan't impressed with the taste because, really, it didn't offer much. It seemed rather watered down, but that said, it didn't taste BAD.. just lacking. It was watery, but that made it somewhat easy to down. I didn't find my self sitting back and enjoying any intricacies at all. I wouldn't get this beer again.

Appearance: dark amber almost brown in color. Two inch head lasts a while.

Smell: earthy hops and a sharp citrus tone rises from the glass.

Taste: caramel, hint a chocolate, grapefruit, some grass tones, and a moderate bitterness is wrapped in a big breadiness.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Lightly crisp throughout with some dryness late. Long lasting aftertaste.

Overall: slightly unbalanced as the citrus tones overtake the hop presence. As an english style IPA this was a bit more citrus focused than I expected.

This beer is a fantastic ENGLISH ipa. A lot of people are judging this beer according to what they think an ipa should taste like without have trying a couple English ipas first, nice caramel sweetness from the British crystal and nice toasty malt, a great balanced beer and very drinkable, now my new go to beer

This beer had very little bitterness (only 40 IBUs). Not being a fan of IPAs in general I found this beer pretty enjoyable. That being said, I'm not sure if IPA fans would be particularly happy with it. It's much darker than expected, mild and easy to drink.

This beer poured a dark tan/brown body with an offwhite head.

Nose had a fruity and mildy vegatable type smell. Apples, raisins, ripe fruits. Almost has a Belgian smell.

Taste is medium bodied and strongly carbonated. Very weak sort of taste at first. Mild camamel, a strong bland bitterness. Its a very non distinct sort of bitter hop flavor. Sort of like hops, but without any flavor. No leaves, no citric flavor, just sort of "hop". Not really even any strong base malt flavors. Its sorto base IPA, insert your flavor here.

I don't know, its not bad, its just not great. Drinkabe, but like the other Cavalry beers, just, meh.
