On tap at home. If you are looking for an over the top IPA that just knocks your socks off with hops, this isn't it. But if you are looking for a very good, drinkable session IPA, take this one. Hops and malt are very well balanced with just a slight bitterness at the end. My friends have very much enjoyed this one. We have mixed it with Grave Robber (Lonerider) and the resulting beer is awesome, Ebony & Ivory (I stole that one from Sean!)

Poured from the growler into a nonic a rich copper color with a tight formed one finger white head that settles pretty slowly.Aromas were a mix of caramel malt and more of a leafy/herbal hop presence, not in your face citrus and pine.A balanced ipa with the hops being somewhat subdued for the style,carame/biscuit and "green" hops are intertwined thru to the finish. Its not hop "heavy" but its a nice quaffable balanced ipa.

On tap at the brewery on 3/3/12.

Pours a copper-amber with no head. The nose has a bright, citrusy aroma that features a little mango and some grapefruit. The flavor is a balance of light, bready malt and heavy citrusy hops. The flavor is simple but drinks well. There is a slight bitterness in the finish that lingers, but is smooth enough for you to want another sip immediately. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and very smooth and almost decent carbonation.

This is a nice, balanced, easy drinking IPA. It's not overly hoppy nor malty. The hops they chose for this one add great drinkability, flavor, and aroma. It's a great compliment to the malt character. I'll definitely have this one again.

@ Busy Bee

Clear orange pour with a minimal head, but loads of drippy lace. Lemony floral sweetness in the nose. Fresh, leafy, earthy hop bitterness. Highly floral and clean over a grainy base. Lively medium body goes down easy. I don't think I'm the biggest fan of Sorachi Ace - especially in an IPA. Not a bad East coast rendition though. I'm not one to advocate hopping the everliving crap out of IPAs to achieve a "good" example of the style...I can appreciate the somewhat mild hoppiness, but wish they would beef up the malt flavor a little for balance. This combination of hops just isn't quite right to keep me coming back very often.

a: curved pint, sort of a medium copper-amber in color, tight little head that retains a ring and thin layer

s: clean biscuity malts and a nice level of caramelized sweetness, hops earthy - green pine and pithy citrus rind, firm enough to make this solidly "ipa" while not overpowering the supporting malts, like this

m: carbonation around moderate in level, with a body that rides the line between light and medium, giving a balanced mouthfeel

t: nice malt profile with a lighter note of caramel sugar and a general woody/biscuity flavor, well accented with a balancing of earthy pine and citrus hops, finishing clean and woody with a moderate bitter

d: really enjoy the balance here without much compromise in flavor, highly drinkable

A: The beer is clear amber yellow in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that quickly died down, leaving delicate lacing on the surface and a collar consisting of large bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose—oranges seem to stand out in particular—along with hints of caramel malts.
T: The taste is similar to the smell in that it is accentuated by flavors of orange citrus hops, which contribute a moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a hop-forward IPA but isn't that difficult to drink because it doesn't seem too heavily bodied.

This beer pours with a deep golden yellow-orange color and a thick, foamy head that quickly dissipates. The aroma is a bit muted compared to a lot of IPAs on the market, but it is nicely earthy and herbal, with a nice balance from some underlying malt sweetness. Similarly, the flavor is more balanced rather than powerfully bitter, but the combination of earth, herbs, and a bit of pepper are certainly up front. Like many of Fullsteam's initial offerings, this one is not the most potently-flavored brew, but it is well-crafted, has a little bit of intrigue, and is highly drinkable. I will happily look for what this brewery can do going forward.

This is my third growler from these new local brewers. I liked but didn't love their stout and porter. For this unseasonably warm weeked, this IPA seemed to make sense.

A faint but typical nose: foral herbs with a touch of citrus and pine. The handsome reddish golden color is crystal clear but doesn't keep its head or lace past a few minutes.

The taste, despite the hops used, lends more across the pond than the west coast. The lemon and pine are tempered and balanced. Some caramel and crystal malts provide some sweetness. Finish is also balanced. TRhe mouthfeel is a little thin and could use a touch more carbonation. This is a mellow, easy to drink IPA ideal for sessioning situations.

A: Pours a crystal clear copper in color in color with light amounts of active visible carbonation slowly rising from the bottom of the glass and light amounts of golden yellow + amber highlights. The beer has a quarter finger tall sudsy foamy white head that reduces to a small medium thick patch and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of herbal + grassy hops over light aromas of caramel malts.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of slightly sweet caramel malts. That is followed by moderate flavors of herbal and grassy hops which imparts a light to moderate amount of bitterness which lingers.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Pretty well balanced between the hops and malts/sweetness and bitterness with a well hidden alcohol which makes this beer easy to drink.
