On-tap at Rockfish Grill served in an 18oz tulip a crisp dark orange with a thin diminishing head that leaves slight lacing on the glass. Aroma is crisp citrus and pine hops in front of caramel malts. The taste is caramel malts in the initial that is quickly bombarded by piney citrus hops that leaves a great lingering bitterness that leaves you craving the next sip. The beer is quite light and refreshing, great for Summer. I'm looking forward to seeing this one in cans down the line.

On tap at the brewery on 3/3/12.

Pours a copper-amber with no head. The nose has a bright, citrusy aroma that features a little mango and some grapefruit. The flavor is a balance of light, bready malt and heavy citrusy hops. The flavor is simple but drinks well. There is a slight bitterness in the finish that lingers, but is smooth enough for you to want another sip immediately. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and very smooth and almost decent carbonation.

This is a nice, balanced, easy drinking IPA. It's not overly hoppy nor malty. The hops they chose for this one add great drinkability, flavor, and aroma. It's a great compliment to the malt character. I'll definitely have this one again.

On tap at the Flying Saucer in Raleigh.

Crisp Orange pour with fluffy two finger head. Thin retention and weak lace.

Very muted nose. Earthy hops with a touch of pine. Slight sense of honey.

Flavor is very intense. Initial hit is fairly thin, but the finish is very bold. Earthy hops with a touch of pine. Strange , but getting the hint of a coke midway through the glass. Lots of hop flavor here.

Body balances the flavor well.

I would get this again.

a: curved pint, sort of a medium copper-amber in color, tight little head that retains a ring and thin layer

s: clean biscuity malts and a nice level of caramelized sweetness, hops earthy - green pine and pithy citrus rind, firm enough to make this solidly "ipa" while not overpowering the supporting malts, like this

m: carbonation around moderate in level, with a body that rides the line between light and medium, giving a balanced mouthfeel

t: nice malt profile with a lighter note of caramel sugar and a general woody/biscuity flavor, well accented with a balancing of earthy pine and citrus hops, finishing clean and woody with a moderate bitter

d: really enjoy the balance here without much compromise in flavor, highly drinkable

Appearance- Nice dark straw color with a great white head with tight bubbles. Great frothy lacing.

Smell- Grassy hop aroma with some malty sweetness.

Taste- The taste is much like the smell. Grassy hops and a malt backbone that imparts a good amount of sweetness to it. Good bitterness after the taste.

Mouthfeel- Very good. Right down the middle of thin and thick. Has a little bit to chew on, but not enough at the same time.

Overall- I have to say this is a very good IPA. Very easy to drink. If Fullsteam was closer, I would drink this all the time. I will have to find out more about this brewery. Thanks goes to CBROS for sending me this growler.

Poured from a growler into a tulip.

a - Pours a dark amber color with one inch of white head and light carbonation evident.

s - Smells of pine strongly, also some citrus hops.

t - Tastes of pine hops, citrus hops, and light fruity malts.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation.

d - A pretty good IPA. My favorite Fullsteam beer so far. Would have again.

Had on tap at the brewpub while doing research fro my blog.

The one thing is that they usually overpour to try to reduce the head, when they dont need to. Pours a golden yellow with a white head.

The smell is the most complex IPA I have ever smelled. It took me a little while to really figure it out. Its Belgian or German Hefeweizen yeast. Mixed among the bittering noble hops, there are fruity esters everywhere.

The smell wasnt beguiling, its a Belgian IPA at heart. Those bittering hops fight every second with Belgian yeast. Somewhere in there is the Fullsteam malt bill that gives it more of a balance than I would have expected from a single IPA. Also, I really felt the alcohol about midway through.

Decent body, none of the flavors fade away too fast.

This beer pours with a deep golden yellow-orange color and a thick, foamy head that quickly dissipates. The aroma is a bit muted compared to a lot of IPAs on the market, but it is nicely earthy and herbal, with a nice balance from some underlying malt sweetness. Similarly, the flavor is more balanced rather than powerfully bitter, but the combination of earth, herbs, and a bit of pepper are certainly up front. Like many of Fullsteam's initial offerings, this one is not the most potently-flavored brew, but it is well-crafted, has a little bit of intrigue, and is highly drinkable. I will happily look for what this brewery can do going forward.

A: Pours a crystal clear copper in color in color with light amounts of active visible carbonation slowly rising from the bottom of the glass and light amounts of golden yellow + amber highlights. The beer has a quarter finger tall sudsy foamy white head that reduces to a small medium thick patch and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of herbal + grassy hops over light aromas of caramel malts.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of slightly sweet caramel malts. That is followed by moderate flavors of herbal and grassy hops which imparts a light to moderate amount of bitterness which lingers.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Pretty well balanced between the hops and malts/sweetness and bitterness with a well hidden alcohol which makes this beer easy to drink.
