Poured a dark brown and amber color with a decent sized deep tan head.
Aromas of slightly burnt coffee and chocolate tones rang out.
Flavors was a really solid mix of grainy dark bread and chocolate and caramel with a hint of coffee all mixed into one swirl.
Mouthfeel was light but relatively diverse and well balanced with a solid hop finish.
Drinkability was really exceptional. Really a good solid version of a low ABV porter. Good have drunk this one for hours.

This stout was poured on nitro-tap, and came out a very dark brown colour with good clarity. It smelled clean; I could easily pick up on the roasted notes of coffee, and also a slightly sweet. This stout tasted almost exactly as it smelled; clean flavours with coffee upfront and a slight malty sweetness. Very tasty.

Would I buy this beer again? Definitely.

I visit Las Vegas at least once or twice a year and the Triple 7 Black Chip Porter is my only beer of choice when I am there. After gambling all night, this beer is a winner. I love the dark rich coffee color of this beer with its cream color head. You can smell the hops and earthiness of its flavor. It is a heavy stout beer with a smooth, sweet creamy taste and a slight bitterness at the end.

Had on tap at the Main Street Casino Brew Pub.

It's a deep black with a dense, creamy brown head. A beautiful beer

Roasted malts come through on the smell.

Dark, sweet chocolate, coffee, nice balancing hops, very good!

Velvety creamy, perhaps a bit thin, but very nice

A very good beer, I'd get it often if it were available where I live.

Consumed on 1/6/10 at Main Street Station, Vegas for less than $1.50

A - A healthy finger of creamy cappuccino head. A dark wooster sauce color. Noticeably strong lacing.

S - Sweet chocolate notes. Distinctly porter. Porter-iffic. Not much as complexity goes but enjoyable.

T - A bit of bitter hop and some roasted flavors. Simple but pleasant.

M - A touch watery but still cool to the palate and warm to the spirit.

D - Not bad. Could get again. It's a great beer to get for free when gambling in downtown Vegas.

Sample at the brewpub. This brew pours nearly black with a thin beige head that dissipates steadily. Spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and a bit of hops. Medium-bodied and smooth with flavors of roasted coffee, malt and chocolate. Touches of hops are present too. The finish is roasty with chocolate malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

Pours almost black with a medium brown head. The thin film head lasted 1/2 hour plus.
Smell is barely there but what shows up is some light coffee, smoke and a little roasted malt.
Taste is malt, coffee, peat, smoke. Good balance.
Light-medium body, thinner than desired but stops short of watery. Coffee note lingers with the malt.
Overall, a good beer in need of a little Charles Atlas body-building and something for the nose to enjoy. Beef this puppy up a bit and it'd be very good indeed.

Definitely the best of the Triple 7 beers I tried during my visit. This beer was by no means great, and none of the beers I had from here was bad, but this was king among the 3 that were all...not bad.

Dark as the ace of spades with a full tan head. Aroma was faint, but chocolatey, roasty, and a bit smokey. Flavor was the same. Mouthfeel was a bit watery, but not bad. Quite drinkable for a porter, owing at least something to the wateriness.

Nonetheless, I would recommend this beer.

I had this on-tap at the brewery.

Consumed 05/09/08 at the brewery.

Very dark brown beer with deep garnet highlights. Thin skin of foam for a head with minimal lacing.

Primarily chocolate malt aroma with a hint of nuts.

Distressingly thin in the mouth. Mild roasted coffee on the palate. An entirely appropriate touch of sourness follows. A nice chocolate aftertaste.

Nothing wrong with this beer, but it did not excite me. Still, it was the only one I ordered more than once.

After trying the sampler, I settled on this beer to pair with the oysters. This is undoubtedly the prize beer of Triple 7. The beer is simply balanced to perfection with a nice blend of bitter-sweet cocoa, columbian coffee, nut and plumb undertones, and a silky feel. The nose picks up on the powdery cocoa scent and a bit of esters and spicy citrus hops. Flavors take on the coffee and cashew character and blends them with the chocolate and fruitiness found in the nose. A light dose of oats are likely used to get the mouthfeel just right. Finishes with a delicate blend of coffee-like bitterness blended with spicy hops for crispness and dryness. The moderate body and alcohols keep the beer drinkable and refreshing. this is simply what a good porter should be.

Presentation: Arrives in a small, wheat style glass.

Apearance: Little to no head, ring of tan foam. The beer itself is opaque, almost black. Hints of reddish brown around the edges.

Smell: Slight husky, grain smell.

Taste: Slightly sweet, chocolatey malt uprfront with hints of toffee. Long lasting finish.

Mouthfeel: Average to higher than average. Great body.

Drinkability: A nice surprise. My first casino microbrew. A good, solid porter.

Tasted on-tap 05/07/07 at the Triple 7 Restaurant & Brewery in Las Vegas, NV.

Nice dark brown (almost black) color with a creamy light brown head that lasts and leaves some lace. Nicely balanced roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee aromas and flavors; pretty darn robust. About perfectly balanced. Medium-full bodied considering the ABV.

One of the best beers at the 777. Hard not to have another one. Highly recommmended.

Poured almost black with a small light brown head. Decent lacing.

Aroma is roasted malts. Not much else.

Taste is of roasted malts, dark chocolate and coffee. Interesting.

Mouthfeel was smooth and medium bodied.

Overall, quite drinkable. I certainly wouldn't mind having some more of this one.

Appearance: Clear black beer with a thin creamy head. I say clear because despite the color, lots of light comes through.

Smell: Thin, roasty aroma with little to offer. It would be nice if there was more of this nice roasty scent.

Taste: Roasty, sweet, and dry with a cracker-like malty flavor. The ending is a bit muttled with notes of coffee soft flavors of toffee. The aftertaste is unusually big with a malty sweet flavor that lingers.

Mouthfeel: Clean and dry and very friendly towards my palate.

Drinkability: This is a decent porter that stays true to the style. Many porters taste like failed stouts, but this beer grandly accepts it's roasty origins without trying too hard. Well done.

One of the better brews at Triple 7. Black with a dark tan head and thick lacing developed through the drink. The aroma was pleasant as roasted malt and coffee were easily detectable. The flavor was a nice balance of roastiness, coffee, a touch of licorice, and faint bitter chocolate.

The mouthfeel was somewhat thinner than expected, almost at the light side of a medium bodied brew - but the strong flavor made up for that. The coffee tones lingered well into the aftertaste. Very drinkable, especially with the lower alcohol levels.

Presentation: Sampled at the Main Street Casino, Brewery and Hotel during a recent Sunday Afternoon visit to Las Vegas. Dispensed from one of the 4 Taps at the Main Bar that overlooks the Slot Machines Floor and served in a straight sided Pint Glass. Cost less than $2 for a Pint.

Appearance: Fantastic presentation, the best of the 4 beers I tried at the Main Street. Dark brown, almost black looking, the myriad of dissolved bubbles from the carbon dioxide fight hard to exit the beers body. This produces a great looking brown head that has excellent staying power. Perfect conditioning.

Nose: Deeply inhaled, you know you will enjoy this beer long before you even get to taste it. A quality nose that is quite intense when it warms up a little and borders on being complex at times.

Taste: Mild roasted malts with some chocolate in the middle. Smooth aerated milky coffee feel transforms in a slight bitterness that lingers around for some time, and it lingers with a chocolate 'lick' in the ending. Very nice. Smooth and nicely balanced, it sits well in the mouth.

Mouthfeel: Perfect conditioning, smooth, creamy and slick. The 4.3% would lead you to believe this is a thin Porter – far from it, it is actually quite a chewy monster. A low gravity Porter with ‘go-faster’ stripes.

Drinkability: Pretty damn “unputdownable”. It is clean with a fantastic roast profile and inter-mingling malts of varying roasted degrees and strength. Yet it’s still light enough to seriously quaff on a hot sunny Nevada afternoon.

Overall: Of the 4 Main Street Beers on sale this weekend, I probably enjoyed this one the most, although the Pale Ale was a very close second, with the Red behind and the Gold stuck in detention somewhere. The Porter is wholesome, highly drinkable and incredibly tasty for a brew that only weighs in at 4.3% ABV!!!

This is a very well crafted, quality Porter, and for the price, it’s a bloody bargain.
