Went 3:30 p.m. on a Saturday.
Walk in and you are suddenly transported to a wonderful beer bar [where you can forget that you are in the rather dingy downtown].
Very nice atmosphere. Large hall with very high ceilings. Lots of tables. Brick walls. Ber kettles, etc. are behind glass encircling the far end of the hall. About 10 TV's around the whole place. Bar sits around 20 people. Whole place can probably seat hundreds.
I really liked the whole feel of the place.
They had 4 standard beers [high roller gold, marker pale ale, royal red lager & blackchip porter] and one brewmaster special [black cherry stout]. In the menu, they provided nice descriptions and information about each beer. Beer was very reasonably priced:
16 oz. $2.95
23 oz. $3.50]
Sampler of 5 5oz. beers was $4.95. Served on a nice circular wooden tray with each beer labeled.
Happy hour is from 3-6p.m., M-F. Food specials and 16 oz. is $2
Food: large menu to choose from and reasonably priced. We had the Soup/Sandwhich $6.95 & nachos grande $7.25. Large portions. Both were good.
Service was fine. Waitress seemed to be rather busy...constantly running around [and spilling beer!!].
Overall, I highly recommend this place. Nice atmosphere, good beer, decent food and very reasonably priced. I may even stay at MSS next time so I can stop by more frequently.
