A great neighborhood tavern in west Grand Rapids across the river. I counted 20 taps of mostly Michigan beers, with three Germans, Guiness, and a Sierra Nevada.
Lovely old building with long wood tables, raised booths against the walls, big bar, brick walls, and black and white tile floor. No loud music. Very civilized but unpretentious place for a beer.
Only staff was a barmaid who was eager to please with samples and quick with the food and drinks. Variety of paninis and other sandwiches, lots of dogs, kielbasa, and other sausages. We had chili and Italian beef sandwich and it was decent and not overpriced.
Nice walk from downtown GR along the river trail and through the old neighborhood by St. Mary's and St. Adalbert's Basilica. Or walk along Bridge Street for more joints.

This is a homey type of neighborhood bar that me and a friend frequent. They have a few good beers available, although I wish there were more stouts. The food is typical bar fare, although they're sometimes understaffed, making it difficult for them to make anything other than basic chow.
The open mike night has some good talent and it was a fun time. I even wowed the crowd with a segment of my act. Other nights have live music groups. It's a good place to hang out with friends.
