Small place with concrete bar and tile floor. One queen size pool table, electronic darts, and shuffle board. One projection TV and two big screen TV's. There are a few comfortable easy-chairs and a sofa up front near the smoked glass windows. Classic rock playing. Music can be a little loud, but the bar tender will lower volume upon request.
Two distinct crowds, depending on time of night. Early evening crowd is middle-age/older. 10:00 PM on, it's 20-30 year olds.
Thirty-eight taps: Bells, Ska, Mother Earth, Duck Rabbit, Smutty Nose, Dogfish Head, New Belgium, Lone Rider, Paulaner...which garners them the title "best beer selection"in all of New Bern. Beers were well maintained, not overly cold, and all were served in room temp, standard pint glasses. The Carolina coast (for the most part) has always been somewhat of a joke when it comes to good beer, so BTM's is a major step in the right direction.

My rating must be tempered with some local exclusivity. This isnt a 5 in Atlanta or Charlotte, but certainly a 5 in New Bern, NC, who, by the way, are celebrating their 300th year anniversary this year. I feel so young!
Located just off of Front Street, there are no signs advertising the location of the place. It is shadowed with silver tinted windows a la strip club and has a very small store front from the street. Look for the "BTM" on the mirrored doors and windows.
Here is my story for the night:
I roll in and immediately see that Mother Earth is on tap. So I try their selections. I choose the Wit beer, and not really caring about the beer, it seems off. I next try the Kolsch; low and behold, it tastes like the Wit. I speak with the owner Chris, who is assured that the kegs on the taps arrived from the brewer/distributor as labeled and are thus labeled at the tap room (incidentally, they were reversed). I expressed that the beers may be reversed but he assures me they are correct since that is the way the brewer/distributor sent them. He leaves for the night. Ten minutes later, after calling the distributor, he informs the barkeep to remove the taps because there have been complaints from other retailers (according to the distributor). So, I was right, and the owner took care of things. It didnt take ten days, but ten minutes. In my opinion, that is great ownership and shows that he cares about his beer.
The beer selection consisted of NB 1554, Fat TIre, Ranger, and Mothership Wit, as well as Mother Earth Beers and some Cottonwood selections like Strawberry Blonde and Carolina Blonde.
No food to speak of. Atmoshpere is centered around the bar. I dont even think they serve food.
With the great ownership here, I would return in a heartbeat. A great beer joint in a beer hell!!
