A single hop, West Coast style American Pale Ale with intense hop flavor and aromas. This is a citrus bomb that has grapefruit and passion fruit aromas with citrus lime flavors.

Picked up two 22oz bombers from Olive Tree Market here in OB for $7. each and drank them with a good friend straight from the bottle (I know, i'm a savage for not pouring it into a glass - whatever!).

Bottle states: 6% ABV / 45 IBU

A: Drank it from the bottle - averaged the points with the rest of the aspects of this brew.

S: Super hoppy (like an IPA by most people's standards) - very earthy, fresh cut grass, herbal tea with a good dose of sweet malt at the end that takes a back seat to the hop presence which is dominant in the overall mix.

T: Big time floral hop starts this one off right - earthy and resinous, citrus rinds and a hint of vanilla with a good dose of sweet malt, fresh grain and crackery goodness. The hop/malt balance is much more evened out in the flavor over the nose but this is not a complaint. This beer should really serve as a threshold to all pale ales out there that consider themselves to be world class without having any type of hop character - this has it all - both hop and malt are cranked way up, but work perfectly together.

M: Light to medium bodied, a bit sticky with perfect carbonation for the style. Finish is creamy and smooth - goes down like nothing.

Overall this is one of the better pale ales out there - it truly does feature the Citra hop, which is one of my favorites. Not sure why this one doesn't get more love here, though people have a tendency to grade a beer similar to the person before them (???) - someone mentioned "body odor" in the flavor/nose - haha...what!? Don't be fooled. Me and my buddy could't get enough of this one. My only grip is $7. per bottle - just outrageous! Knock the price down to $4.99 where it belongs and i'm sold!

Poured from bottle into bottom of pint glass.
Aggressive head. Nice clear bronze. Head fades slowly leaving nice lace.
Nose very citric.
Taste overpowers with lemon zest. Very aggressive West Coast citrus up front with a nice malt backbone.
Aftertaste leaves a malty smoothness feel that is very pleasant.
Not at all what I expected peeking at the other reviews. A totally different experience that from others I know and respect.
To each his own. I liked this beer a lot and am very glad I snagged a bottle.

Not as impressive as I was lead to believe. This is an extremely malty, caramel-y, bready beer. I've brewed my own citra IPA. I've crushed citra hops in my hands and breathed them in, chewed on the pellets and savored their unique flavor. I can't taste the flavors that make Citra unique in this beer - juicy, tropical, fruit punch,e tc. It tastes like you could throw in almost any American hop and it would taste the same.

Not a bad beer overall, but nothing memorable about it that would make me pick it over anything else.

A darker orange and dark golden color comes out of the undated bottle. Mild thin head, not much in the way of lace or retention, but nothing detrimental going on. Mild citra hop aroma, nice, not over the top, even better as it warms up further.

Same in the taste, mild citrus and tropical notes. Toffee and caramel type of malt flavors. Not overly heavy, but maybe a bit bigger than in the extra pale ale's I prefer. Certainly doesn't deliver the massive hoppiness of some XPA's like Bruery, Jupiter, Drake's etc. . . maybe a lighter body and bolder use of the citra hop (like in Simtra) would allow this beer to shine even more, but as it is, its still a decent option, especially to smell moreso than taste.

A: Golden orange and clear. Thin head gives way to gentle lacing.

S: Grapefruit, tropical fruit, grains

T: Nothing incredibly unique about this offering, but it was tasty. The citra comes through (although not as much as one may expect), and it has a pleasant bready, malty backbone.

M: Clean and soft.

O: Somewhat mild in flavor and bitterness compared to other Knee Deep offerings, but I enjoyed it for what it was. It met my expectations.

Interesting Pale Ale. Citra being the only hop used in this beer...IMO it could be showcased much better.

A - Golden Copper of you will. 2 inch head that leaves decent lacing throughout the Guinness Perfect Pint glass it's poured in.

S - Oranges, bready malt, bananas and human sweat. Not B.O. or onions but a weird sweatiness.

T - same as nose. Not BAD by any means but it's a odd hopiness.

M - Light, crisp on a hot summers day. I feel SNPA has a heavier mouthfeel. I like how easy drinking this is but the odd sweat in the hop flavor doesn't have me wanting more than 12oz. It lingers in the finish after a while which is why I'm glad I split this one. Otherwise the mouthfeel would be a 4 or better.

O - This is not a BAD beer. But let's be honest, when you see a Extra Pale Ale or any hoppy beer for that matter that is showcasing CITRA as the single and only hop used, a beer geek expects much, much more.
