Bottled 5/23/14 and pulled off a room temp shelf at bevmo in N California on a road trip. A - deep amber much darker than the only other TIPA I've tasted Boneyard Notorious. 1 finger off white head with good retention and lacing through the entire glass. N - little grassy but mostly toffee, caramel. T - caramel, toffee, orange, an odd peppery taste with a lot of alcohol heat on the finish. M - nice sparkling light oily mouthfeel. Full body. O - not at all what was expected. No dank citrus. Slight grassiness and some orange zest were the only hop characteristics detected. A good barley wine reminiscent of stone 2013 old guardian is the only thing I can compare it too. My first lesson in big box beer outlet buying. Don't buy TIPAs off the room temp racks but I just had to try it. Would love a properly stored bottle to compare this to.

Poured from bottle into Duvel snifter
A - pours a dark amber almost red hue with a thick dense white head that leaves sticky lacing
S - lots of tropical fruit with a slightly citrus/ freshly cut grass note
T - A big kick of sweet tropical fruit, guava, glacier cherries, citrus with pine and warming alcohol finish
M - goes down very smooth for an 11.25% beer, it's very bitter to start but finishes very sweet and warming.

Mother of hoppiville, this is the real deal! The aroma is in a word, intoxicating - as is the punch it provides to the taste buds and eventually head. A couple of 20 ouncers of this beauty and you best call Uber. How can drinking in so much flavor taste so smooth? After becoming hooked on this lil' number, drinking OTC (over-the-counter) beer has been trashed forever. I'll never go back. The tasting room/ brewery outside of Auburn, CA is Classic craft and the recently added A/C is a welcome upgrade for the summer tasting months. Plenty of games abound including my favorite cornhole. I'm a devoted fan and look forward to sampling many variations from KD. Well done!
