Draft, poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Pours a cloudy, very golden/orange color, with a quarter of a finger of white head, speckled with orange highlights that quickly dissolved away to nothing.

Aroma: Lots of pumpkin and spices! Nutmeg, all-spice, clove and brown sugar, all combining to create an intoxicating aroma.

Taste: Not as much pumpkin in the taste as the aroma, but it is there! Really good combination of spice flavors: nutmeg, all-spice, cinnamon, clove and brown sugar. A little on the sweet side, but not at all cloying. Delicious!

Mouthfeel: Medium and with no carbonation to speak of. With an ABV of only 5.0%, there is no presence of alcohol on the palate.

Overall: This is a great pumpkin beer! Great flavors of pumpkin, nicely balanced with some strong spice notes. Very, very good!

~~Thanks to CuriousMonk for the growler~~

From notes on 12/06/12:
Poured in a pint glass.

A - One inch of off-white foamy head with okay retention; Deep brass/orange hue with a slightly hazy appearance; No lacing left behind

S - Pretty pleasant and uplifting for a pumpkin ale; Really good balance between pumpkin meat and spices; Has a floral and somewhat herbal/earthy quality as well; Nice touch of biscuity and lightly toasted crust notes

T - Quite a bit of pumpkin meat/flesh in the beginning - really nice to experience it without being masked by too much spice; In addition, plenty of bready and caramel character tagging along with just a faint hint of nuts - reminds me of butternut squash; The allspice and nutmeg spices start to step up mid-taste, though not even close to overpowering - provide nice balance to the now lightly toasted and herbal pumpkin flavor

M - Carbonation and body is light to moderate - wish the body had a bit more presence; Pretty smooth going down; Fairly dry finish

O - Overall, this is a pretty good offering for the style. I've got no real complaints in the aroma/taste as this displays the desired balanced between pumpkin and spice. I do think more body and carbonation would bring added life to this beer, but even so, it's still a very easy drinking pumpkin ale.

64 oz brewery filled growler into a pint glass.

Pours a slightly hazed copper that eventually clears out, topped with 1 ½ fingers of foamy white head that has a slight off-sheen to it. The aroma smells of fresh pumpkin, musty earth, a green and herbal hop element and some moderate spicing. A touch of sweet malt works with the pumpkin and citrus to emit a bit of a green twang to the nose.

The taste is fresh and bright feeling pumpkin flavor that has some light vegetative notes on the edges. This is complimented nicely by a crisp citrus profile and some neutral malt sweetness that helps balance this and push the pumpkin and hops forward. This is just a smattering of pumpkin spices throughout the profile, lingering in a finish that is semi-sweet at first and then more dry and earthy. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a crisp feel up front and then more silky smoothness to the carbonation across the back. This is a nice even feel that flows well in the mouth.

Despite a little too much of a vegetable feel at times in the profile, this is the type of Pumpkin Ale that is right up my alley, with a concentration on the pumpkin flavor, taking a more low-key approach to the spices and most of all, keeping the overall focus on a crisp and drinkable experience. I’m glad I picked this up.
