On draft at TND...
Appears a hazy light gold with a fluffy white head that slowly fades. Tons of scattered lacing is left around the glass.
Smell is of lemon peel, vanilla, grapefruit, lemon jello, tart wheat, and some tartness.
Taste is of the aromas with a real lemon and herbal blast. Really interesting stuff. Different
mouthfeel is medium bodied, tart, and refreshing.

On-tap at the Brick Store.
Pours a hazy lemon yellow color with a half-finger bright white head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving light lacing.
Smells of sweet malts with large amounts of sugar-coated lemon and orange peels. Also present are citrus and floral hops and very slight lightly tart citrus aromas.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Very sweet pilsner malt flavors kick things off and are joined quickly by very small amounts of tart lemon peel. Midway through the sip the tart flavors fade and bright citrus and slightly earthy hop flavors work their way into things. The hops fade out into a moderately sweet ending.
Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with active carbonation.
Drinkability is OK. I finished my glass without a problem and could have another.
Overall I thought this was surprisingly similar to limoncello, down to the cloying sweetness. A very interesting beer that's worth a shot but it's not one that I would anticipate having again.

reviewed from notes. had this at TND on 3/1 at Hophead event.
pours a light yellow color, and very cloudy. similar to a tripel. smell is of lemon with a hint of "sourness" if you can describe that. taste is unlike anything I've ever tried. Hard to identify this as anything "IPA-ish" in the least bit. beer is very tart/sour with strong lemon flavor, however it would not be readily identifiable or necessarily enjoyable for someone who happens to like lemons as there are other things going on here. cloying sweetness as well. mouthfeel was creamy and smooth. Scores points for being unique, but still not sure to this day if I enjoyed this beer or not. It was "good" but drinkability was not high. I may order another one should it ever cross my path just to get a better read on it.

I had this on-tap at Max's taphouse. Poured into a standard pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a cloudy golden yellow color with a finger of thick fluffy white head. The head goes away quickly, but leaves a lot of very nice lacing.
Smell: Sweet and fruity, I'm picking up citrus along with some grape. There is a tartness in there as well.
Taste: The taste is better than the smell. Sweet and fruity, again I'm picking up lemon and grape. The sweetness and the tart flavors remind me of lemonheads candy. The finish is bitter. Sweetness overpowers the other flavors a bit much. I don't pick up hardly any alcohol.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, a bit sticky. There is a fairly high amount of smooth carbonation. The finish is a bit dry.
Overall: The first sip was definitely, this beer got old as I got through the glass. It's a bit too sweet, and I wish there was some more bitterness.

Served in a Mardsous chalice at Local Option 2/5/11.
A: Served a bright, cloudy lemon-yellow color. Perced on top is a bright-white plop of short lived foam that left some nice lace patterns on the glass.
S: Big aroma of lemon in the front that balanced by a backbone of coconut, vanilla, and fresh cut grass.
T: The lemon of the smell becomes a little too much as it warms. Tastes a bit like Lemon Pledge sprayed on freshly shaved coconut. Weird but kind of good.
M: Very slick and with hop oil oiliness. Sticky, sweet, with the perfect amount of dry, herbal, grassiness.
D: I applaud the idea, but I can think of no other beer in my recent memory that is more "one and done". After this, I had to scrape my palate clean with a Dark Horse Too Cream!

First had: on tap at Pinocchio's, Media, PA
Loved this beer! I'm an Italian who likes his limoncello, so I was exciting to try this. Poured cloudy yellow with a huge head that needed some time to settle before it was drinkable. Sweet, citrusy aroma. Taste was definitely limoncello! Terrific limoncello taste throughout, with mild hops just poking in a tiny bit in the background. Sweet and tart, and barely hoppy...practically unrecognizable as an IPA, but I didn't care. Smooth, light mouthfeel, with some syrupy character. Highly drinkable, but probably not something most people would dedicate a whole session to.

On-tap at The Trappist
A: The pour is a hazy straw color with a huge white head and some pretty nice spider-web lacing.
S: Lots of lemon notes, which isn't surprising considering the addition of lemon zest. There's quite a bit of citrus, maybe some pine and grass. The sourmash didn't provide too much tartness, but it is there.
T: Not really much in the way of tartness, but definitely a strong lemon flavor. Lots of lemon zest, and a bit of candied lemon. The hops are slightly bitter and a bit earthy and grassy. Some decent malt flavor, but maybe a little heavy.
M: The body is medium with a moderate level of carbonation.
D: This is one of the best beers that I've had that's been brewed by Mikkeller (or at least, in part by him). I'd actually consider having this again.

On tap at Max's today.
The beer pours a solid gold color with good head retention and lacing. The nose on this beer is pretty nice, though not what I associate with an IPA. Still, there is some nice maraschino cherry, light honey, considerable lemon (which works well with the sweetness in this beer) and a hint of vanilla. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely in this fairly sweet beer, though I finally get a hint of hoppy bitterness. The latter counters the sweetness sufficiently so as to keep it from becoming heavy or tiring on the palate, the sweetness still dominates the flavor profile. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a soft, fairly creamy, sweet and bitter finish. Drinkability is pretty good, though I think this beer is a bit sweet for an IPA. Still, the 8% alcohol is well disguised, and the beer is not heavy or tiring on the finish.
An interesting beer... can't see myself ever drinking a lot of this, but I thought it pretty enjoyable nonetheless.

Found this at Ebenezer's Pub in Lovell, Maine. Listed as a collaboration between Hill Farmstead's Shaun Hill & Mikkler.
Served in a Delirium Tremens tulip, filled almost to the top.
Small foamy head with thick puffy lace! Clinging all over the sides of the glass. Thick hazy lemony yellow. Smells like grass, lemon zest and sour funk. Initial taste is like biting into bitter roasted or grilled lemon rind. Some bitter greens flavor, earthy, like chard, sits in the back of the throat. Creamy with low carbonation and smooth at room temp. Some grassy hops come through as an after thought. Fresh, and the alcohol stays hidden. I will say, that for as creamy as the mouthfeel is, this feels like a refreshing and light bodied beer.
Not sure why this is considered an Imperial IPA, felt like a Saison maybe.
Interesting, glad I took a chance on it.
